I like the design. Definitely reminds me of dragonlance. I see its a lot more realistically proportioned than the last guy, and im not catching any pronounced spades/hearts/clubs/diamonds references, so is this for a completely different project?

E: nvm, apparently its the same project

Edit: I don't really have any criticism that conscars didn't already mention. However instead of scars to break the boringness of the skin, you could try belts and straps that actually hold the armor on.

Seems a bit beefy for an elf, then again no harm in breaking old stereotypes I guess?

Looks pretty good, armour is awesome. I agree with Con, though. A bit of humanity as far as skin goes shouldn't hurt. I reckon his skin could use a new colour too, possibly brighter, a tad more saturated, and a little shiny. At the moment I'm not getting the whole elf vibe from it.

I dont see why everyone is all up about the skin, seeing as hes an elf, and elfs arent very hairy or nastily textured at all, in fact they're often very clean. If I added all this hair and cuts and brusies, he'd just look like a total human. If I saturated his skin more, he'd look tanned and sunbaked.

What im going to do is actually add more of a blueish tinge to his skin and actually make him paler, with a bit of light hair on him, maybe a tatoo.

I also think the redness of his armour doesn't help either, but bosses orders. I originally wanted him to be silver with gold detailing, and a red specular falloff fresnel effect, but boss didn't think it was eviently "heart" enough.

Oh I just realised I never showed the human. I'll get a render of him later. He's the first to be rigged so I should be able to get a cool pose of him, still doing the facial shapes.

If it weren't for your texturing style, I would never guess that these two characters came from the same project. The dwarf character is so unrealistic in his proportions and features, but the elf isn't. Its not that either of them look bad, they both succeed at capturing a certain style, its just that their styles are so different. its sort of like the difference between ganondorf and wario.

Well they are 2 different races. You would expect the culture to be different :|

it has nothing to do with culture, its just different design style. One is realistic and the other is almost cartoony.

Not really. They are different races so there features develop differently. Seems perfect to me.

I suppose it could be because of that. Seems like a bit of a stretch still but whatever, thats what makes games stand out. Looks like an interesting project, very interested to see how it unfolds

We didn't say make it nasty, or add "all this hair and cuts and bruises". What I originally said was add some hair, and it seems people agree that he would look better with hair. I'm not saying make him look like a grizzly bear, just a little bit of hair here and there to show the connection with humanity that I assume this race has. Typically, elves in stories have common ancestry with humans, so it would make sense to show artifacts. Nobody actually said anything about cuts and bruises, I just mentioned maybe adding a couple scars since he's a warrior and all. By all means, leave him the way he is, but it seems people think he could be better off with a few of these touches without becoming human.

tried it, hair isn't noticeable, only really on the armpits which even still just doesn't look elfish to me. Fine hair i added, but you still can't see it anyway. Not a whole lot of skin is being shown.

The hair quite literally isn't noticeable at all. The areas that are showing through the armour, even naturally, have minimal amounts of hair. The only parts I can see are leg hairs, forearm hairs, eyebrows and a slight armpit fuzz. Even then, you can't see such changes anyway. Scars I might do, maaaaybe. Dirt, definatly.
