While that may be true, this was never talked about in the games, and if they were, wouldn't they have been in halo 2? It could still be possible, as it would still fit with the storyline of the games, but not the books.

Personally, I doubt Bungie would go against what happens in the books. That would annoy a lot of fans, and potentially the authors.

... they already said Reach takes place during the Battle of Reach on the planet Reach. They even specifically mentioned "oh, yeah, that happens before Combat Evolved." just in case you forgot.

I can't forget something I never heard. I didn't actually see the conference, I just saw the trailers.
