These renders are slightly outdated; I've done the joint guards and have added the little details on the legs. Poly count is 9,300, and I'm hoping to get it into CE (I know...OH SHI)
    Put it into Unreal.

9300 tris or 9300 polies? If it's polies, it shouldn't be anything close to that.

Need an opinion or two on this. It is the logo for the site in my signature (bluHill.net).

Thanks goes to snaf for doing most of the work. I just did the render.

Its polies, but remember I modelled like half of the model in triangles, with each triangle being counted as a poly.

Can you ask snaf how he did the grid like pattern on the mesh?

My guess would be he duplicated the mesh, put a slight push modifier on it, gave it a white wire material. The original mesh just got a blue transparent material.

@Fear: It was basically what Corndogman described. I duplicated the mesh with turbosmooth, added a push modifier, and then applied a gradient as the opacity map so that it fades across the mesh.

The material was a forced wire with a white diffuse and some self-illumination.

I got the extra spiny effect by accident, although, you could probably duplicate that somehow either in the shader properties or using more gradients.

The foregrip is ugly as sin, the red dot doesn't look rounded enough, and the wire going to the laser pointer looks too thick.

Make the stock bar fatter, it's far too skinny.
