Nope. What WWI was though, was also the last "civilised" war in history. After that, every war became a war of morals and a definitive "good vs. evil" war, where as both sides were on even footing in WWI, and no one treated the other any better or worse than his foe. Atrocities were still committed, but it was relatively evenly distributed across the belligerent nations.
I've been to a place in France, tombstones as far as the eye could see. All of them died in WW2, I believe they all died on just D-Day too. It was unbelievable, it doesnt really hit home until you see the vast number actually being represented in front of your eyes.
No, North Africa was in WWII. Both sides were quite gentlemanly towards each other - unlike all the other theatres.
Yeah, I've been to a lot of those. When I have kids, I'm taking them back there so they can see for themselves what comes of senseless violence and (in the case of WWII) bigotry. Did me a world of good.
