It partially ruined me for Halo 2 and 3. I went from living off 16-player vehicle CTF on a solid rotation of maps built specifically for it on dedicated servers to... Big Team Battle matchmaking, where the BTB map selection is tiny at launch, every game takes forever to match, half the team quits before the game is over and aren't replaced by new players, and there's severe lag every other game. It was miserable and as a result, BTB became a joke in the community, even though 16-player CTF was Bungie's preferred mode of play from the beginning.
But I'm excited about Invasion and some of the tweaks to matchmaking and their network model. Hopefully, many of my issues will be resolved and I'll be able to fully enjoy a Halo game again.
Remember how in Halo 1 it took skill to bring down a Warthog at long range? As far as I'm concerned, what really killed big team battle for Halo 3 was the Laser. I've never seen such a ridiculously overpowered anti-vehicle weapon, even Halo 2's tracking rockets weren't so annoying. Vehicle vs. vehicle engagements are practically nonexistant in Halo 3 BTB because whichever team gains control of the Laser first has the ability to instantly and effortlessly destroy all the enemy vehicles.
Unfortunately, since the laser appears to be returning, I'll probably have to avoid BTB this time around too.

It hasn't been the same since they made them destructible, honestly. I miss perfectly placing a grenade in the path of a fully loaded Warthog, sending it end-over-end, killing the disoriented ejectees, and driving off with the prize. Shit... that's gone for good, isn't it? Somebody hold me.
