The dates were for when it would be open to the general public. Of course they were open prior to May 3rd, but it wouldn't make any sense to make the dates in April because then people would expect the beta to be up at that time. Use some common sense.

People already knew about it, and the codes. It doesn't matter if they expect it, it's been up, and generally part of the public got the codes to play Reach early and the public already knew about that too.
It seems like you are just rambling to try and make your point. There is no point to having the date a playlist will open be before the beta is released for everyone, it will only lead to confusion. Just because some people knew about others having it early, that does not mean everybody knew. The beta has actually been uploaded to xbox.com since April 7th. So by your logic, they should have put April 7th as the playlist start dates, since some people had it then. Flawed logic.
