My friend never played Portal before, but he heard about it from me and some other friends. He never had any inclination to get it, but since it was free, I downloaded Steam and the game for him.

He played through it, loved it, and ended up buying Orange Box. Now he's playing through the HL2 games and loving it.

Goes to show you that free games (either offered by publisher or as illegal downloads) don't lead to lost sales. (Well, small games like Portal, not something like GTA or Halo)

They aren't. Even total pieces of shit can do SOME things.

I'll compare computers using airplanes:
PC: Overall average airplanes. Can be first class, or can be comparable to a luggage compartment. They can tend to fall out of the sky while using Windows™ Fuel, but upgrading your fuel to Linux™ will make you plane fly smooth and steady.

Mac: Scraps and pieces of other airplanes glued together, polished, painted, and sold at a ridiculously high price (for the shininess). However, OSX Snow Leopard™ is a good fuel. Even though it is a 'good' fuel, sometimes the Mac cannot process it, and the plane freezes in mid air and crashes.

I like Macs. I recommend them to all my family because Macs are for stupid people who couldn't handle a real computer.
