4.3k tris isn't bad, still think the barrel sides could be lower, you wouldn't be seeing the ends and the roundness wouldn't be majorly affected by lowering it.

finally got off my lazy ass and finished this.

kid, i know what photo you did that from, and i'll tell you, your tones are all over the place and such a mish-mash that you don't represent any materials at all. There is no differentiation between glass, leather, skin, fabric, metal, stone. Nothing. Also, the way you've shaded her face makes the shape look like a wedge of pizza. Literally like this :> It also looks like you got lazy on the hair, you don't draw strands of hair, because it ends up looking like a rat's nest. Don't overwork the hands, either, or they end up looking mangled or aged. Your proportions also look off.

I've been trying to practice tones, but it's slow in progress. I have trouble with glass. I just can't ever get it right. I'd like to throw down fabric weave but never got it to a point where I like during practices. I can see what you mean with the face. That's just bad eyeing the values. How would you do hair? I haven't had much experience with hair. Thx for the tip about the hands. I have a grid layout on the ref and canvas. I had to compensate mainly with the right arm around the glass bottles. I was too focused on the reflection to realize how large it was getting.

I'll apply the crit in the next piece. I'll try and find one with varrying textures and work on diffrientiating them.

For a fabric weave, use tactile plates. They work the same way as when you were a kid running around with a No.2 pencil and computer paper, making rubs of quarters and pennies. For hair i would block it out dark and erase out to light. That's my personal way I would approach it. If any illustrator here would like to correct me, that's cool. As for the glass and reflections, look at how much it contrasts there. Redoing just that would be good practice because it is shot in a studio environment, and you only have to worry about that one hotspot/lamp reflection (i can't tell which it is) rather than a reflection of a full environment.

Also, what paper are you using? The grittiness makes it look like it's seriously inappropriate for this, like it has too much tooth.

I think the grain was from the cam, I need a new scanner still

also, I selected a small area and redid it on drawing paper(first time around was on copy paper).

It's not quite done, but any opinions?

    Re: Quick-Crit 2010

I finally figured out the basics of the Source SDK on Sunday night with the help of the Valve tutorials, and I'm trying to create a map with it.

This is what I have so far. I already have the full layout on paper. I might be able to upload it tomorrow.

I am very sorry about the size of the pictures, I tried to resize them with [shot] tags. Again, this is my first time to ever use an editing kit, so there is still about 95% I don't understand yet.

Here are the rest of the images. I think I'm done with the basics of the Terrorist half, and would like to know how much backtracking I need before I can move on to the CT half.

    Woah, its MXC...

Your lights are casting a short distance, making them real powerful, lower the value down a bit, that first linked screenshot is super bright O_O.

    Looking pretty good though.

Thanks! I toned down most of the lights outside of the spawn, but what happened to the fence shading?

Haven't worked on this for a while, going to start back on it soon, I need a few map themes, any one think of any? (Industrial, Battle Field, etc)
For the record, the tanks were designed by Conscars, I shade them in via code.
