There were a couple of levels that felt alot like ODST, and they felt like you had to keep grinding, like "Oh do this, oh look go over there, oh do it over there again".
Seriously, fuck Hunters. If I get past them, it's all luck. The designers were just being dicks. The part I'm at has no heavy weapons, just a few grenades and a shotgun. I tried as hard as I could to get a Gauss Hog in there, but no dice.
What the Hell, Bungie. You want us to get close, blow the armor off their back, and then shoot that little spot that gets exposed, but you sure don't make it practical. Halo combat has always been great because of those neat shortcuts. The Hunter shortcut is no longer a shortcut. It's a game of chicken. How about you help us out? When I armor lock against their cheap melee attack, how about it at least stuns them? Or if one of them shoots the other in the back, how about it does SOME damage?
One pistol shot to the back in Halo 1 was too easy, but they've gone twice as far in the other direction.
I agree ejburke, they are incredibly tough, even on heroic they take about 4 rocket hits to kill. What gets me is if you use armor lock, they basically just wait for you to pop out, and THE SECOND you do, they shoot you.
I'm dreading hunters on legendary.
Mini Spoiler
How much money have you guys got, and what are you saving for?
Im saving up for these helmets
For some stupid reason, my Bungie account says I havent finished heroic campaign, but in game it does, anyone have any idea why?

I passed it and armor lock did come in handy. Lucky I had it equipped. Lucky also that I had a DMR to pick off the grunts and combo the Elite that were hanging around. I also got some lucky random checkpoints that helped out.
I'm not one to complain about movement speed in Halo. It helps keep the combat smooth and under control without the need for an aim-down-the-sights mode. But doing the dance with a Hunter is just exposing how un-nimble your Spartan is. Among other frustrations like being at a Hunter's 6 = dead, while being at it's 5 or 7 = alive.
I am about to beat the game on legendary, and the hunters are the worst. The first two hunters on Sword Base I take out with the gauss hog. I use rockets and plasma launcher on the hunters on Nightfall. On Tip of the Spear, I killed one with the plasma launcher and the other blew itself up by destroying the anti-air gun for me. On New Alexandria, I just run past all 4 in the night club. You can just let your team do all the work on The Package. In the last level, bring rockets with you from the very beginning! When you get the chance to pick up the laser, pick that up and constantly swap weapons so you can "carry" 3. (DMR + rockets + laser). Otherwise, the last two hunters are literally impossible to kill.
Bungie playtests the hell out of their games, but they target it at normal... I'm wondering how this got past playtesting, i.e., are we just doing it wrong and there really is some better way of fighting hunters? did they intend for hunters to cause several deaths before you got past them? are they less frustrating for most people playing on normal?
Eventually I'm gonna go back and evaluate the hunter battles more closely before laying down any judgment. Maybe I'm just making them sound harder than they were.
e: jcap ninja'd. how did you get the gauss hog in sword base? When I saw the hunters I immediately went back for it, but I stopped when I saw the roadblocks because I assumed it was one of those impenetrable vehicle barriers Bungie seems so fond of.
