May be a rough on tools, but it's fast.

Plus, I came across more than enough iron to replace any tools I lost... as long as you grab all the iron on your way down you'll have plenty. Actually never had so much iron before. I explore caves as I find them, but I don't dig in too deep around the walls, just stuff I see as I go through. first time I've gotten this deep before, managed to see flat pools of lava for the first time.

You'll get a much greater surplus if you mine caves as you explore. Also it's way more interesting than that crap
But if you're playing minecraft like runescape, go ahead and mine that way

You can use wooden planks as fuel for furnaces too (though it's not as efficient as coal).

I found enough. Oh crap it's been 6 hours since I've got the game. Let's see.... I've spent so much time under the ground... GAH man I gotta do this on someone else's server (wmclan.net just isn't workin out for meh)

Using the tips on the previous page Torches on the left means down, torches on the right means a path to the surface... I'm so dead when Torches start to die after X time. Also I want some freakin' diamond. UGH. But I don't really want to grind for it :/ blech.

I was wanting lanterns, in terms of you can hold one in your inventory and it would like your surroundings so you can walk in the dark, but still see.

Oh nuts, I can't get the portal to work in SMP in time. I'll add a flag to start in either normal or Nether mode so you can try it in smp. No hell mode in SMP?
Minecarts and boats still won't work well in SMP after this update. But the tracks will. - Whats point in tracks, if minecarts dont work?
And so do stairs now. They will never auto-turn ever again! Yay!

Seems like hes left alot of the development for the update pretty late.

Is this a seasonal update or what.
