fun fact, you can generate infinite cobblestone using a stream of lava intersecting a stream of water

@Mooks: You can also generate that one stone type obsidian by placing Lava inside water.

@ Plague: You spent like 4 minutes talking about the options menu. Blech. Also if you have like 20 logs in there for wood, you can right click on the wood and it will just add them together. Try it.

i find it funny that ever since the update mobs have been spawning in segments of my mineshafts that are lit up like a christmas tree

Lava doesn't work like water, in that you can't place two lava blocks two spaces apart and expect the middle space to become filled with lava. There's a finite amount in each map section. However, there's a whole bunch of lava in the Nether, and it'll generate more as you explore further, so theoretically, you can get an infinite amount.

Also, the method of generating Obsidian is to have water flow over a lava block. You can get up to seven at a time I believe.
