It really, really didn't. It was presented fairly well though, so you don't realize exactly how bullshit it is until it is too late.

Sure it was obscure but I guess I'm a sucker for the tragic Tidus/Yuna thing. I never fully understood the whole story until I finally got it clarified by the wikia. Now X-2; there is much to be desired when it comes to that...

Source: Final Fantasy fanboy since the glory years of I - X... Steadily losing interest in the most recent ones.... Especially not a fan of MMORPG...

    Luls.

I really enjoyed Final Fantasy X, easily my favorite RPG. That being said, I didn't really understand the story until my second play through.

    Entirely unrelated.

Heh, I didn't find it funny because I'm aware of a lot of completely serious ideas very similar to that for lunar transportation.

    This is my favorite:
Build two counterweights connected by a very long (read: many kilometers), very strong tether. Put it in orbit around the moon such that if the tether were perpendicular to the surface the "bottom" counterweight would be just above the surface. Start the whole thing spinning so it "rolls" along the lunar surface; whichever counterweight is near the surface appears to "stand still" some hundreds of meters above the lunar surface for a brief period before being pulled up.
Then all you have to do is wait for the counterweight to come along, jump up and grab it, hang on for dear life, then let go when you reach the apex and get flung out of lunar orbit.

This is a totally serious idea that NASA engineers are considering.
