Currently, the game requires me to use a mod in order to get more than 5 fps as well.
lag has never been an issue for me, but i definitely agree on coding this in something a little more suited for a full game.

but is this actually a problem? i dont see this affecting the gameplay in any way except making it so i dont have to worry about installed mods breaking with official updates. i mean yeah we're still waiting on the proposed lanterns and zombie siege and capture the flag, but im not worried that we'll never see it happen.

You put all resources in the main product, and set minimal people to work on the new product or stall it entirely until the main product has either been released or reached the end of its development lifetime
in most cases id agree with you. but the game is already in a stable playable state, with the updates being more of "add-ons" than completing an "incomplete" game. ill agree that saying its beta is a misnomer, but with what theyre doing here they might as well remove the idea of a "final product" and just keep updating the game with new stuff periodically.
i may be misunderstanding what youre saying here, though. i recall before somebody (you?) said it seems like notch getting bored with minecraft, and now it seems like hes abandoning it. if thats what you mean, im kind of 50-50 there. dev times support that notion, but the fact that things are being made at all counters it.

well, i was kind of looking for something along the lines of that, since it seemed like you were suggesting the gameplay itself could be better. thats what i took from it anyway.

well thats what im saying. he could form a full company, but from what iv read, i think thats just not what he wants to do. it seems like notch just made a game for fun that hit it big, and hes just cool with the money. is it dumb of notch and mojang economically to not try to get investments? maybe. what im saying is though i dont know who would invest in his company OTHER THAN a gaming corporation that does that sort of thing. i just dont think its feasible to hunt down people who won the lottery or anything like that. if it were me in his place, if i could find somebody who wasnt a gaming company like activision or something, i would go for the investment. if i could only get game companies though, i would seriously consider staying indie, because its my game and ill make it however i want. i dont want you telling me what i have to do to make more money. from what i can gather, thats how notch feels and that, combined with the fact that hes already rich enough to retire anyway, is why notch and mojang arnt going for investments. think about it, the guy could retire on what hes made already, and he made the game for fun in the first place. hes doing what hes doing because he wants to do it, and now he never has to do anything else. why should he make more, potentially unwanted work for himself?

E: i just read your post again. am i mistaken in believing that notch is the head of mojang?
