Because I can do Halo1 any fucking day of the year, with mods, on my goddamn PC. I don't need to use XBL. I can host dedicated servers. Halo PC already has everything you need.

    welp
This is what makes me so incredibly pissed about HA10. They should've just remade the damn game in the Reach engine, that way it would have looked nice, supported modern technology (better animations because Halo 1's are shit), and a lot of other things that were cool additions could have been implemented (Flood Infections, Boarding are primary examples, not things like equipment or AAs). Instead, they just upgrade the graphics and resort to the shitty Halo 1 Animation system, mainly for 3rd Person bipeds? Are you kidding me? If you want the Halo 1 animations for FP so badly, it takes no time to accomplish. Just go to Halomaps if you want them THAT badly. I've kept a neutral position and I'm not saying they screwed the pooch, but dammit if nothing is updated to fit modern standard besides models, bitmaps, and shaders, then how the hell is this a "remastered" version? Usually remastered means redone to fit the standards of the time when it's redone, or better yet, REFURBISHED. [/rant]

A remake of Halo in the Reach engine would have been the most sacrilegious thing ever. I don't know what you're talking about, Halo had decent animations. Personally I would like to see Halo's original multiplayer revived. I can have my fun in Reach, but most of the time it leaves a bad taste in my mouth I would rather see washed away.

The again I've only been playing this game for the past 8 years, what the fuck do I know anyway?

It wouldn't be the same game then. It's SUPPOSE to be the same game. They want to put that same experience people first got back in 2001 in today's gamer's hands who are spoiled by lawlgfx and XBL.

Reach's AI system is very different from Halo1 (it'd literally be Combat Evolved this time around :trollface. So it wouldn't play the same. Encounters would have to be redone. They'd literally be making a new game, and probably wouldn't have been able to hit their Nov deadline.

HA10 is very much an anniversary present to fans who were around back in 2001 (I, for one, have a shitty time playing H1 on the 360), while also giving new fans a taste of what they missed out on.

So I'm not complaining. I will, however, complain that none of the Halo games past H2 have made it to the PC where it could be safely modded and life could just be all grand.

It's actually better that they do this too, since there is already so much known about the H1 engine. HA10 modding will have a big advantage (especially if they don't sign the cache files, like the recent games)

Halo 3 could have been fun on the PC, I really wanted it to be. Then again after the letdown that H2 Vista was it may have been just as bad or worse. I'm still debating getting H2V, I miss playing its campaign and I never had a chance to play its multiplayer online.

H3 PC would be a dream come true. That engine had so much potential if someone made it in Custom Edition form. But we all know this. Same applies to Reach's engine as far as sequences are concerned.

They'll release the newer Halo games on PC once they have "perfected" their Live integration into Windows 8.

A halo remake from the multiplayer standpoint wouldn't be the same unless all of the glitches from it made it in. If not, it's not truly 100% halo. That's what made halo fun, triple melees, awesome stunts, dancing, fragload, etc... It wouldn't feel the same at all except for the maps are remade. It's like making a halo mod for crysis or u3, it looks pretty but at the end of the day it's not truly halo. Would love to see this on PC as well :\

yeah really, this^. i was so relieved to hear they wernt changing the gameplay, animations, sounds or the encounters or anything. that graphics switchback button is gonna be so sweet too. im just disappointed we arnt getting any halo 1 multiplayer aside from the maps for reach, which might end up playing like shit with reach's weapon set.

i thought the whole thing about porting maps from one game to another is that the map has to be designed with the new game's weapons and abilities in mind. unless they tweak the maps (which i think they said they wernt going to do), i can see issues arising from the nerfed shotgun and pistol, and the armor abilities too.
