If you notice, the Halo 1 shotgun was placed all over the place on maps and was designed so manly men could charge into battle with it and get 2 or 3 hit kills at medium range. Every Halo shotgun after it is designed so cowardly fools can hide around corners and get cheap 1 shot kills as long as the other guy doesn't double melee you first.

So either they're gonna re-work the weapon layouts or the remade maps are gonna be really tedious and frustrating to play.

e: Oh god I just had a disturbing thought. Armor lock on Damnation.

    Jetpacks on Prisoner?

Think about it: get the rockets at the bottom, fly to the sniper at the top and wreak havoc on the players below.

But yeh, AL on Wizard would be horribly shitty.

Armour Abilities in general were just a terrible decision.

I'm pretty sure Frankie mentioned something about them having a new playlist for the maps that would implement some changes to make the gameplay feel a lot more like Halo 1's. That obviously means that there won't be armour abilities in that playlist, but since it's possible to change pretty much anything through gametypes in Reach, maybe there are a few others things 343i has in mind.

If they'd given us the option to remove shot-blooming, or adjust the damage of each weapon, it could become a lot closer to the Halo 1 feel.

Don't you think such an easy thing would have already been implemented into the game options tho, it would probably be a global option for all weapons.

I disagree. I think they were a wonderful addition. But I also think some of their implementations were careless or not done well at all. Reach suffers from paranoia and "What Ifs" regarding balance, so it ends up that everything is overbalanced. For example, BTB in Reach is all about the DMR and avoiding DMR fire while having vehicles do some sort of work, while in Halo 2 everyone had the BR that is equally as powerful, yet balanced to the point that it was useful and fair for everyone on the map. The best part was, vehicles actually felt balanced and crucial, while in Reach they feel either underbalanced or easily removable. What Bungie should have done is made the DMR have a 3x Scope like ever other weapon that's not a Sniper Rifle and make the vehicles like Halo 3's where physical condition makes the player more vulnerable, but the Vehicle can only be destroyed in a certain way (via explosives and heavy weapons).

I like the Jet Pack, Active Camo, and Sprint as utilities. It's just when someone abuses their functions that people become frustrated (Sprint+Melee+Melee etc.).

One thing Pooky and I found about trying to emulate Halo 1 is that indestructible vehicles is a very bad thing. Unless it was patched sometime between last September and now, indestructable vehicles means that the scorpion and wraith cannot be stopped. Period. They take no cosmetic damage (so no blowing hatches off) and do not pass body damage off to the driver/passengers.
