BattleBlog #13: Official Multiplayer Maps Reveal
There's too much info to quote so just read it at the source.
Can't help but notice the internal MPxxx designations for the maps go up to 15 despite there only being nine maps.
One part of me says DICE is just scrapping failed ideas but the other, more cynical one can't help but look over at the $15 four-map CoD DLC and wonder if EA has the unholy nuts to do likewise
Considering the amount of work and polish and design that goes into a BF3 map, I'm doubtful that they pulled from the original game to sell as DLC later. CoD maps are shit and don't take half the time to make as a BF3 map would.
Check out this mapname list:
You can see that mapnames are sporadic. If you look at Port Valdez it says mp_012. It was one of the first maps to be revealed for BC2. I can't find the current full maplist, but I don't think the DLC maps were in between Laguna Presa (mp_009) and Port Valdez, which would indicate maps that were cut, finished, and released again (but they were free DLC).
