Yep, wasn't replying to you. However, since you want it to be about your gripe about peopling griping about mustache: the "HD" version of the game should have just been a true touch up, literally what the game would look like if it had been made with today's technology. Evolution. Not transformers where a truck can turn into some walking & derping killing machine. 1 + 1 = 2. It does not equal three. Or four. Or three. The minute they started to not do this, the community was well within their right to make 9000+ pages of WHAT THE FLYING FUCK DID YOU DO TO X posts.

This place has a couple handfuls of members, so if the majority of them are tweaking out about some detail, chances are they are all going to post about it. Then you have the anti-tweakers (eg, you) who then post about them tweaking out, only furthering the massive tweak fest that is unfolding. Hence the couple of pages that were mostly about the silly mustache Johnson is sporting in HA10.

If you're going to do something, do it fucking right, and stay true to the original along the way. Facial details, stomach sizes, derp-faces, etc shouldn't needed to be mucked with. They wanted to re-use H3/Reach assets? Fine, whatever, but they should have stuck to a standard. Gonna use MF'ing Reach trooper (ie, army) models for HA10 marines (!= army)? Then use H3's Johnson as well. Don't go reinventing the wheel, with different materials, in the HD "remake" of a game.

I cannot begin to fathom why they didn't just use the Reach Keyes model either, as that was pretty "10 years later" shit already.

Bungie: sometimes ignored non-game fiction, but was actually iterative on the original designs as they moved forward.

343i: keeps in mind fiction from the books, but seems to have some point to prove that they're at the helm now and are not Bungie, so we have all these changes. Changes to equipment and mood may make sense for H4, with humans having researched Forerunner tech and new settings, but this Halo1 dammit. Halo1 characters.

But hey, at least we can just play the game in 2001 mode, amiright marines modacity? Mmmhmmm, damn right I am.

Hopefully the manual/credits will shed some more light on the remake artists, so we can see who we really need to grind our axes with at the end of the day.
If it wasn't obvious, I love you.
