If you haven't heard Rock In a Hard Place or w/e, be thankful. Crappy remake of Rock Anthem for Saving the Universe.
No, really, get out.
I didn't have a problem with the remastered soundtrack when I first listened to it, then I went back and replayed the game with classic soundtrack for the hell of it. Definitely not switching back. Classic beats remastered for immersion and atmosphere on every track.
Just picked up my copy today ($17 really tax included), will get to it later (couldn't find H2V at Gamestop sadly).
Anyone find any parts that are particularly different with the new overhauls on the environments? I know a lot of the music is strange compared to the original, but anything that was particular improved upon or different in a positive way with the new features?
The new environments are alright, but it really feels like they skimped on atmosphere in favor of lolgrafix. The Maw run is the worst culprit of this. Sure, the new textures are pretty, but it just doesn't have the same epic "end of the world" feel the original did.
Also, one thing that really bugs me about this game's presentation is how near-invisible the shield shaders are. I mean, it's not like I don't know how many hits it takes to down an Elite by this point, but it's kind of tacky when the shield shader is so faint you can hardly see it at all.
It's all new models. In some places they even added geometry that isn't really there in the classic version so you just pass through it. And in a couple places they deleted geometry that IS there in the classic version so you bump into invisible walls.
It's usually done in out of the way places (like the top of the AotCR canyon) so it's not a huge deal, but it's still a bit annoying.
