Halo: Anniversary - The Halo 1 remake (fuck anyone who calls it "halo ce" remake)

All I know is, besides the desire to use something besides the norm, there really isn't any reason to stray from the pistol in Anniversary editions.

IIRC the pistol on its own is incredibly inefficient against Elites, especially on harder difficulties when enemy shields and health are ramped up.
