It works. You have to almost skim the top of the mountain, though.

No, you have to not skim the mountain. If you're to close to the rocks you die, it's out of bounds to prevent people from camping on the middle mountain part.

I see them skim the mountain all the time. If you are outside of a vehicle, it will kill you. It's how they make the maps bigger for aerial vehicles; it only kills those not in said vehicles when they are in that section.

On PC, if you're within about 10 feet of the mountain/rocks around the tunnel entrances you get killed and the vehicle then explodes. It doesn't matter what seat you're on, it's scripted into the game. You have to fly far away from the mountain over the tunnels to survive.

Well, that's asinine and they should fix it. Just another example of how much of a hack-job BF3 really is.

Its that way on purpose, to prevent people from camping on the hill. Or sniping from a helicopter overing near the hill or landed on the hill.

They have a system in place that already kills people when they are on foot in places that only aerial vehicles can go. And yeah, they should fix level design instead. Whoever thought that making the entire map force players through an easily choked-off tunnel was a great idea is an idiot. I appreciate them trying to put emphasis on helicopters, but the helos die quickly and, assuming both teams are even strength and skill, don't carry enough people on them to be worth it.

I just go around. From the Russian spawn I go far right. That way Bad Luck doesn't murder me; also, the opposite team is watching the tunnel and the hill, not their left flank. God I need to tear myself away from Skyrim so I can play this.

Oh god helicopters are so invincible it's not even funny, they don't die quickly. Any helicopter in the game that carries passengers can be repaired in-flight, including the Little Bird and Z-11W and not just the Venom. Combine that with the co-pilot passenger marking targets like mad and the pilot with Flares/ECM and a death-beam machine gun and Heat Seekers/Guided Missile and you've got a recipe for enemy team genocide.

I'm guilty of doing this very VERY often with three other friends of mine.
