I got a 1200+ marksman headshot on Gulf of Oman the other day using the L96, had to aim much higher than with the M98B.

The M95 was pretty clunky in BC2, but it had the best range and it was slow. That is not entirely the case in BF3. The M98 has a decent speed for reloading (which can be sped up by equipping the straight pull bolt at 60 kills), the lowest amount of bullet drop, and it doesn't feel like you're carrying around a fucking clown when moving. Once you start using it, you won't go back. Not for long range engagements, at least. What you aim at is pretty much what you're going to hit inside 600m.

M95 was worse than the GOL in BC2 and had no advantages.

You could snipe people out of the Havoc with the M95. I preferred the GOL when I did do any sniping, though. I REALLY miss shooting down choppers with the AT4. It was all skill and no luck to shoot those bastards down with the AT4. And it was a multipurpose weapon. You could use it on ground targets as well.

    ATTN DICE: AT4 DLC NAO.

iirc, it used to do increased damage, which was balanced out by the longer firing and reload time. dice nerfed it in a patch though, and now it does the same damage as the other bolt actions. i think it still has an increased range though.

this is why stats for weapons given ingame should be numerical values with dynamic meters to go along with them, that way they update with patches. as it stands now, weapons get patched, but the stat graphics dont, and thus give you inaccurate information.
i have a similar criticism for the animation speed not being changed when the damage for the m95 was nerfed, but the range bonus could arguably justify it still.

I didn't use the M95 because it was the easiest sniper to use. The M98 sounds the same, I like a little bit of a challenge when sniping.

I just lead my shots with the CG and RPG-7; didn't care to learn how to use the AT-4 against helos, since I got pretty good with that and tracer darts.

Donut: The M95 used to be the only sniper rifle that was a one-hit body-shot kill with magnum ammo, but the patch brought ALL of the sniper rifles up to that level. Worst idea ever, to be honest. With the crap precision on the M95, it made choosing the GOL a no-brainer for long-distance work.
