    Problem with gmax

So I was making more miserable attempts at learning CAD, and attempted to load one of my saved custom UI's. This worked, however, almost all of the program's icons have disappeared. After a few tries, I've memorized where they used to be and managed some use from gmax, but this is rather tedious and not exactly very efficient.
So, any advice on how to fix this?

Dig around the Autodesk site a bit, student versions are free, only restriction being you can't sell stuff.

However yes, if you can get a student copy (that's what I use) it would probably be the better way to go. If you're in a college, or know anyone in a college, it would be the easiest way to get a legit copy.
