When doing jokes on the internet, you either need to set a precedent for yourself so people can tell when you are joking and what you typically joke about or you need to set up a context in which people can decipher that you're joking. The joke I saw was Ford throwing it's weight at Apple while using racial slurs, not the historical irony in the statement.
