I hadn't heard that either. Sounds a little suspect. The making of Halo 2 vidoc gave no indication of that. If anything, he was probably sleeping in the office more often than he was going home at night. That production cycle was Hell, and if he was really off on sabbatical, the studio would have revolted.

I was wrong when I mentioned Harold. I figured out it was Alex Seropian and he left for Chicago. Jason Jones went to help the Phoenix team.

The weird thing is that Halo 3 either didn't have a project lead or Jason didn't want to be credited. ODST was headed by Staten, while Reach was led by Lehto.

Hopefully, that mercurial bastard still has the touch. It could turn out that he's the Howard Hughes of gaming and the past 8 years have been a descent into madness. Either way, I'm on board.
Lol, the guy who did the grunt VOs was lead on ODST? No wonder it was good...

    I miss Staten. :'(

I also miss Lehto because he's always aiming for some ridiculous goal (like always trying to make boat gameplay work) even if it misses the mark by a bit (Halo: Reach).

I do want to say though, I feel like a lot of people are hating on 343i because they aren't the original creators or because they took Halo away from Bungie. I find this to be ridiculous, mainly because the people working on the new Halo games all love the franchise, even if MS simply sees it as a pawn for more money (which is how they view all of their assets now anyways). Point being, Bungie loved Halo, but they thought it was time to move on: Devs at 343i love Halo and want to expand upon it more so. I completely understand for the devs that don't want the series to die or phase out because I love the Halo universe a lot and would love to keep seeing it so long as there is passion put into it. Halo 4 may not be the best game because of some wonky designer decisions or best Halo game yet, but it's obvious they put their heart into it.

Back to Bungie's Destiny, I really can't wait to see what my favorite studio has in store. I'm really hoping it remains as artsy as the past games have been because I view video games as an art form: Bungie has always crafted there games like an artist crafts a new work.

Bungie's Phoenix died with MS buying them out and forcing them to marry their Xbox. It wasn't around during Halo2

I'm actually pretty sure that Staten moving on to Destiny after ODST was one of the reasons they fucking gave the grunts their own language in Reach.

Choosing a name like Destiny made me wonder if it was the reincarnation of the Phoenix project but probably not.

Note; I'm not saying 343I are trying to advocate CoD's gameplay I'm saying they're looking to drain the franchise like Activision has to CoD.

Am I the only one who has never been that impressed with Bungie? Of course I love H1, but since H1 I can say I've only truly enjoyed one of their games, and that would be H3. I'm curious to see what they do with Destiny, but I've grown to expect disappointment.

I enjoyed Halo 2 right up until the credits, which point I waited until Halo 3, multiplayer wasn't that large of a thing for me until I got XBL at which point it was mostly customs and co-op.
most of the Halo games I found entertaining which is their intended purpose, they may not have been impressive but things don't have to be impressive to be entertaining.
