Well shit. Here I was thinking I was at the height of style with my gutters with the mesh on them to stop the leaves from clogging them up.

Mesh on gutters/eavestroughs will still collect leaves and need to be cleaned out.
Gutterless houses to deter ice build up is a bad idea, you expect the gravel and weeping tile not to freeze up?
Insulate your house properly and vent your attic space to prevent ice build up on your roofs.

Don't have an icing problem, haven't cleaned the leaves off of the gutter mesh in years. Still work just fine. I'm not averse to cleaning them out once in a blue moon.
