Halo 5: Destiny: Buck meets the Traveler
If you noticed, the Halo 5 reveal was a day or so away from the $400 price drop (well, omitting Kinect), which I took as a massive encouragement to buy the Xbox One. Of course, because Halo 5 is 2015, as well as Witcher 3, I've no real reasons to buy one until 2015. Seeing as the "Halo" game(s) this year are probably going to be remasterings, I can wait and maybe even get a bigger deal once I need my Witcher 3.
Implying they would actually take their Xbox One seller and put it on PC.
Implying I have a PC capable of running it.
Implying it would even be well-optimized for a PC in the first place.
And no, I'm not going to spend $700 on a PC when I can buy a $400 console that will have exclusive games for it that the PC won't, regardless of if I "speak with my wallet and don't buy one" and they just decide to port something. Yes I know it's been done before, but do you really think they would take the game that will surge their console sales ahead and put it on PC?
I have a laptop for college work and some games, and a console for most everything else (currently a 360). Plus, with a console, I KNOW things will run and don't have to deal with shitty PC ports and what not or having to upgrade my computer to meet demands whereas console stay the same but games look better and run better still as devs are used to one set of hardware.
Coupled with the fact I still will most likely want to play Halo 5, as well as Witcher 3 (which given I could get a PS4, but I'm already ingrained in Microsofts schemes + Halo, again), buying an Xbox One is reasonable enough to my needs and goals as a college student and gamer.
Now please don't start an argument with me, and I really didn't even want to lay what looks like a foundation to one here, but I really want to get across that I'm not stupid and I am not buying an XOne based solely on Halo. Fuck damn shit. ODX out.
But assuming PC games are $30 instead of $60 (which you can easily get them at with coupons/discounts/simply waiting for them to come down to that), then you can have a $700 PC and 10 games for $1000 instead of a $400 console and 10 games for $1000. Then after that you're just saving money.
Too bad nobody wants us trading disks with friends anymore. :v
Half of the games I have for the Xbox 360 I got for free (or next to) because friends didn't want them anymore.
At least Steam had gifting and trading assuming the game is in your inventory, not your library. Family sharing is a thing too.
You know what will stay consistent and whose consistency will be targeted for the next 7-10 years? Consoles.
You know what won't? PCs and their software.
I'm sure it's not just the bottom line with ODX. However, he made it pretty clear that he didn't want to start a argument/debate.
Implying I buy games at full price.
I just bought AC4 for $14, and before that I got ODST for $7 or so. I rarely play games, honestly, just a few is all I need and by the time I really want something I'll wait for a sale because there's always sales/markdowns by the time I care enough (yes, more on PC but still happens quite often for consoles). Last game I bought full price was Halo 4 for $80 cause I got the season pass with it. Of course, that didn't entirely return as well as I would've hoped.
The only games I'm going to be buying full price anymore are [maybe] Halo 5 and [definitely] The Witcher 3 [because CD Projekt deserves my money]. Otherwise, I wait for sales and markdowns so I won't be spending that much in the long run. $600, maybe? And that's if I even buy the Xbox One at $400.
Star Fox please, and Zelda reveal, then I'll buy a Wii U.
