    Halo Speed Runs

hello all, have you heard of haloruns?
they speedrun all the halo games but i only really care about halo PC runs (they call Halo PC "Halo CE" please dont feel misled). A good intro would be to listen to goatrope's 1h50m speedrun of HPC legendary earlier this week; he explains a lot of the tricks and triggers very well. The community of runners doesnt look too huge at the moment and i have no idea how deep their knowledge of the game engine goes, but im sure some people here know a lot more.

also if someone could post an explanation of why halo is inconsistent with certain checkpoints when running above 30fps i would be interested.

I lol'd at the guy who said halo has randomly generated geometry.

He's not entirely wrong, scenery objects placed in Sapien will randomly change orientation/rotation.

IIRC, the entire game is based on 30fps. All the tick rates for the single player scripting are also constrained by that frame rate. I assume running at a high frame rate causes you to pass through trigger volumes without the scripts being able to keep up.

    Idk though.

That doesn't make the geometry random. Way to be a fucking pedantic asshole. Give me an infraction for this post I dare you.

I used to follow HighSpeedHalo since the Halo 2 days. Loved speedrunning levels with friends in Halo 3 and Reach. It sucks though because once you know the tricks it's hard to play normally again lol

You're telling me that rock formations, trees, etc don't help determine parts of the map geometry, and that he couldn't of been simply using "geometry" as a broad term?

He calls a Warthog a jeep ffs, you're arguing semantics. This is, in my opinion, 100% what he was refering to.
