I hate to bump an old topic like this, but I'm getting the exact same problem. Like Jahrain, my lightmap bitmaps are corrupted, and make the map look insane. Tool reports the following after "rasterizing":
This is followed by a near carbon-copy of his bitmap errors when loading Sapien.### ERROR in atlas texture packing!
--- cluster index 0 tried to build a 1024x2048 texture - this is too big!
--- lower luminels per world unit
### WARNING: shrinking a bitmap!
I don't have any idea how to go about fixing this, since nowhere have I seen "luminels" before. I get that the problem stems from the lightmapper trying to compile a bitmap with too high a resolution, but this makes no sense to me as my map is quite thoroughly portalled, and from my understanding *should* be split up into smaller bitmaps.
This is on Checkerboard quality, for those interested.
I'm also having problems when a certain instance geometry peice (namely a series of planes arranged to form an energy beam) is added to the export - the lightmapper gets stuck on "computing ii entries for poop 36 (this number changes every export) of 37... 0.000%" and then eats up all my memory. Removing said objects makes the lightmaps go to Jahrain's problem.
