interesting. If anyone digs that up I'd like to look into it

They're included in there.
oooooh...thanks CAD
I love this thread
also if you need any more stress tests as far as performance on shitty cards goes, you know where to ask
Boba has PM'ed me some designs of it, and it does not look like that in the designs. He told me that the part you see in the games is just the cargo bay. So that means it may be bigger than the pelican.
Edit: I will probably make this one, I have some good ideas for it seems I cannot really use much of this image for the design because it is a small sketch. I will just make it a simular shape. It would probably be a nice vehicle to actually use.
If you look at the Albatross model from Halo 2's Relic in max (after ripping it of course), you'll see that the cockpit is about 75% the size of the cargo bay. I'll get a render in a minute.
Would you be interested in using one of these scenery objects I made?
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...9/Scenery1.jpg
Ignore the cone though, old render. The big thing is a Public Mail Box if you couldn't tell, thing next to it is a wet floor sign.
I was under the impression that they stopped murdering trees by the 2550's. And that they used email.
How about public computer terminals for shit like that?
Sorry dude, but those objects don't look like they belong in the future at all. they look like the daily objects i've seen since i was a kid.
Have you even played halo 3? The future has plenty of traffic cones. Some more deadly than others.
Well I really didn't model these with the intention of being futuristic. But I doubt that they would eliminate paper mail, somethings you just need to be able to touch. Unless they had a way to teleport whole objects, which I've never seen in the halo universe, I think they would still use it to some extent.
I dont really want to get into one of those "But its the future so blah blah blah" kind of arguments, so lets just wait to see what WoL thinks. And I'm willing to change them and maybe model something new.
You're all DENSE. I didn't say any of these things would be eliminated, just that they look way too outdated to be in HRH, especially the mailbox. The designs need to be updated.
Hurf fucking durf guys, holy shit.
@ Llama, I meant on Earth. And those are really just for multiplayer gameplay purposes.
@Snaf, that was actually more in response to Legionaire and his comment about not using mail. And I said I'm willing to change it to make it look futuristic.
also, looks like there's far to many sides on those bottles. Even though this is supposed to be high resolution, it's very wise not to waste resources on something so minuscule that will hardly be seen.
Animate the mail box to slowly hover up and down with a stream of light or something coming from underneath it. Then it'll be futuristic :p
WoL, Check your PM's.
Okay.
in max, use "reset xform" in the tools.
Thanks.
Time to get busy.
No, Master Chief is 7 feet tall, some Spartans are taller, some are shorter. If I recall correctly, Sam was a head taller than John (Master Chief), so that would make him at least 8 feet tall. But, if you mean the in-game Muliplayer Spartans, then yes, they are represented as 7 feet tall.
My dad can be a cock sometimes. I was logged on computer with 3ds max open and a pretty good engine in the making, I hadnt saved yet. I left it open and went to watch supernatural.
My mum wanted to check her emails, so she tryed to switch user, but bitdefender does not allow people to switch use and says that they are not admin because I am still logged on.
So my dad, being a prick decided to turn the computer off and come had a go at me asking me why I was the only admin on the computer.. I told the ass a lot of times who is admin and he is an admin.
He needs to get his facts right next time. Time to model it again...
^ Damn. That sucks. How much modelling wasn't saved?
It wasnt too much but still. He didnt even apolagise. I slammed the door on him and he started shouting "I will rip your face of!" I was like Soz hard Lol.
Me mum said that he will prob apologise tonight seems as he went to far. Lol. There are family issues which made him go off on one though. Lol.
That's good. Both for the modelling and upcoming apology.
not your dad's fault you didn't save, and did you check the autoback (do they skip the C?... autobak...) folder? Max auto backups your work like every five or 15 minutes... so assuming you haven't started playing in Max again... check the folder.
I dont know, I can just start it again. Didnt do to much.
rofl, my bad bru.
And I was joking obviously.
And please, for the next few days, forgive any blatant spelling or grammatical errors.
I am sick.
Some pretty pics to cheer me up?
D-d-d-double post!!

Red is stuff I haven't touched yet.
Grey is all modeled from scratch.
Gas cans on the right (looking at the picture) tread will have some ropes modeled holding them down.
More stuff (like the shovel and bar) will be added later once the basic model is done and I know how many tris I can spare.
HOLY BALLS. Mah jaw dropped. i love it so far.
Aim for 20k tris.
Tis good mate, I like it.
e: Enjoy your fifth bar. :-3
Depending on how much you can spare, you should try to incorporate stuff you see on modern tanks. :-3
Reactive scorpion armor :3
A mailbox that acts like a teleporter, delivering the particles of the letter straight to where ever it is addressed to.
If one of my friends has a birthday coming up i E-Mail them a card and they do the same for me. only people i buy cards for is my family.
and for the parcels im sure a newer better system would have been developed by then that dosn't loose parcels and has better security than a old metal box which a axe can break open.
Update on the body:
http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/145/treadswipho7.jpg
Nothing on this model is final and is subject to change!
So any minor details you don't see, don't chew me out, just wait until I'm done working on it, and then bring them up.
lookin good, keep going. Though, something about the very back looks a bit bland. Work something into it.
Never really liked the cockpit of the tank, they have realistic space travel and crap yet do not have a sealed tank? I know it is for game play purposes, but I always hated how it looked.
The grille on the back of the tank appears to serve no purpose. Put a few taillights under it to make it appear of some use.
Try DESIGNING it, heh. I mean, It's the future, try and make it techy, or something. I mean, what do you want me to suggest? Make it fit in. Why would cars change?? Why have they changed? Don't make stupid defenses like you don't understand why 500+ years in the future a metal box would change because of it being practical today.
You should do something interesting with the gun; maybe make the actual gun of the tank not look like it was smelted into a solid mass of steel and more of a mechanism.
This is somewhat offtopic, but is it just me or is it really strange they make the whole gunmount go up and down as opposed to just the barrel? It seems like it would take less power to lift just the gun than the mass of mechanics.
For the mail box conflict, why not use the idea of those vacuum powered pumps at banks that you put the checks in at quick stops? A rounded looking tube of that finish would be futuristic enough.
But have you seen twisting masses of tubes in New Mombasa?
i don't recall mailboxes
then again its been about 2 years since i played halo 2 so dont take my word for it
Because the front assembly of the main part of the turret houses the gun's breech and autoloading mechanisms, not to mention it doubles as the secondary gun's coaxial mount. Those mechanisms can't be out of line with the barrel, or the loading mechanism won't work, so they have to rotate with the barrel.
Now I'm officially open to suggestions:
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/2192/frontqn5.jpg
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/2664/backlp1.jpg
http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/3426/bottomqz4.jpg
http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/2...refrontlg4.jpg
http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/242...arebackaw5.jpg
So if you have ideas on improvement please say so, just be specific not just "Add details that are on a real tank", tell me what details you mean.
Maintainence steps and a grab handle on the side of the turret.
Why are there iron bars on top of the turret and on the back?
The modelling looks a little on the weak side where the turret barrel meets the turret. Add something there. And on the sides of the turret, looks bland as well. Add some large nets for supplies or something. Or, take the idea of reactive armor. Do something a little more on the rotator where the turret meets the body.
smoke grenade launchers.
^
If they're meant to be a ladder to get ontop of the turret, get rid of them and stick them on the side so it looks like somebody could actually climb there.
The tubeing over where the exhaust pipes on the origional H1 tank were look stupid too.
Perhaps put some kind of optical equipment there? (and where's the antennae??)
And what's that optics thing you've got sticking out from where the second diver seat was?
:O
I have a suggestion. Teach Me!
That is amazing. I like the turret, its nice and smooth looking.
Chamfer?
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...bo/chamfer.jpg
Also, why not make the grizzly tank from Halo Wars, its equipped with a flamethrower instead of a chain gun. And it has vents on the top of the cannon to let out the excess heat.
ERA plates along the sides of the tread covers, body, & the rear part of the turret.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...-09-165522.jpg
There are a lot of things there on the TUSK that you might want to add :)
also hunter shut up have you played the demo for it
Yes I have played the demo. And I thought it was a epic fail. Mixing Halo with command and conquer. :lmao:
Edit:
WoL. Can the red parts be seperate objects (engines).
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2..._serperate.jpg
(Image bit fucked, I moved the red layer up a bit by accident Lol)
And maybe some other parts.
Hunter is that an albatross? Because that looks nothing like the ones I've seen in halo2/3. Maybe I'm mistaking.
Nice tank you have there bobthegreat.
Also; (offtopic) Halo Wars is a nice game.
Yeah, it is an Albertross. I have been told by Boba that the Albertross you see in Halo 2 and 3 is just part of the actualy vehicle, and it is built into that design. I dunno. WoL wants that anyway, but a smaller version.
Edit: These engines okay WoL? I will be adding way more detail btw. It is horribly plain.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...albertross.jpg
Yeah, it flies in and drops what you see in sandtrap and relic.
why would you model that detail in? that's not convincing of what a turbine looks like anyways.
God damn the noobs in this forum. Hold on a second while I compile a picture of the details on it and why they are there.
I think it would be a better idea for WoL to ask BobtheGreat, ExAm and other people to model this kind of stuff for him. I am seriously not at a high enough standered for this stuff...
Ok.
What? Add what? That section didn't change through all 3 Halo games. I'm not sure what I could add... Ideas please?
It's not a ladder guys, seriously. It's a place to put nets and cargo and what not, see pics of the back ot the Halo 3 Scorpion.
What are you talking about?Quote:
The tubeing over where the exhaust pipes on the origional H1 tank were look stupid too.
You really lost me here.Quote:
Perhaps put some kind of optical equipment there? (and where's the antennae??)
And the Antennae are on the top where those cylinders are. The antennae aren't part of the model...
Just that, optics. The second driver seat was a fluke in the first Halo. They changed it and put what I guess, are optics, in Halo 2, and carried that through to Halo 3. See Pictures above.Quote:
And what's that optics thing you've got sticking out from where the second diver seat was?
Did I cover everything?
The two driver's seats were not a fluke. It was implied that it took two marines to operate the tank, but the Chief could do it all by himself because of Cortana.
Other than that, your analysis is good. Just had to point that out because I'm OCD.
:O I cant design for shit... I am epic fail.. not HaloWars.
This. I always pictured the MC leaning over to control both seats at once :v:
Also, I'm still bugged by the density of wire at the back of the turret and on the back of the tank. With the lights, it serves a purpose. On the top, with those dimensions, it doesn't look like it serves a function at all
Here's a few rather nit-picky suggestions, more ideas than anything. :d
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...6/frontqn5.png
By turret optics i mean something like this: (above the barrel)
If a spot is already being occupied by something else, disregard it. d:
Fixed some stuff:
http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/9665/fronttake2vj3.jpg
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/3...cktake2fi5.jpg
Edit:
Just missed your post. I'll get those little details put on... Dunno if I like the sight and camera on top of the turret like that though.
Boba has the right idea, he got down what i was thinking. Tank is looking sexellent.
I always liked the barrel's original oblong shape. Maybe bring that back?
@Hunter and Anton:
Its not an Albatross, its a larger carrier. It doesnt have an actual name. Its from the Art of Halo, that has concepts from Halo 1 and 2.
Since it does not have a name, I call it the Stork.
