The only thing I'd like to see is for Halo's netcode to be updated (at the least, fix the ridiculous lag/leading problems, but making stuff sync better would be nice too. Unlocking HPC to run CE maps would be nice too)

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Well, in the podcast, it seems like the rest of the podcasters don't know whats going on with the key thing, unless they were acting dumb just as excuse to be able to plug it more. (As in saying "wait lemmie get this straight, get your key ready??")
Looking at what roger does, he does the Halo PC thing, which could be good, however due to the fact its litterally just him, I doubt theres any fantastic updates for Halo PC, although I really wish ther was.
He however is also working on H3 stats, and is introducting the new Render film thing Bungie just released. That will have used more of his development/production time...
Therefore I believe, we will be able to use our Halo PC keys, submit them into a page on Bungie.net and it will give us free minutes for the rendering service.
Makes more logical (and business) sense to have the benefit in an up to date game they are actually going to make money from by offering you free stuff (You like the service so much, you end up buying more time) than doing something to support the old true Halo fans.
I hope I'm wrong. +Rep if you agree????

I hope if theres a patch, its one big superdooper patch that fixes lag and lots of other things, for the same reason as you, theres going to be a big inconvenience if theres an update, so it better be a good one.

Do people still use that shit? I'm sorry, I don't play Halo 3. I think the multiplayer aspect is horribly overrated.
I also think your suggestion as to what the key might lead to is the worst out of all of them. Sorry for your loss.
My thoughts? I think it's either a patch or a conversion of some sorts. I think if he is addressing us as PC users, it's going to be something to do with PC, such as software or an overhaul. Something you would need to "hold on to a key" for.

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Pretty much what seraphim said. Halo 3 is probably the dullest game I had before selling my 360.
An overhaul would be interesting, but it would require more than the one person that looks back at the game. Something like open source, however, probably isn't quite as difficult if it were archived somewhere.

Anyone thought of the possibility of Halo PC being added to Steam? Use your CD Key to activate your copy for free? This just occurred to me a few minutes ago and sounds like a somewhat realistic possibility imo. Though if they added Halo PC, I'd hope they also add Custom Edition (a la "Would you like to launch Halo Combat Evolved or Halo Custom Edition?" I highly doubt Steam would pick up a 5 year old game, although, they still do support Call of Duty 1.

I don't think it's cerebrum. Could be source code (if they can find it and their crack legal team can get it back from ms and release it to the public), or some sort of beta participation or some new feature. (windows live)
But then again, could be recon raffle.
But it's Bungie, podcast, and halo ce related. Must be good.

A "feature" can also be something being shown.
He could have been referring to the "feature" meaning him revealing/featuring the raffle.

Well, I for one don't see MS handing over their game to one of their top competitors, although it would probably get a bunch of new purchases, it just doesn't seem like MS. I'm hoping for something like source code, or a netcode update, so it doesn't lag like hell.
Though, what would be really cool is if they did all of the following. 1. released the source code, 2. updated the netcode, 3. put it on steam and 4. gave us free shit or something for our keys. that's just wishful thinking though.

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Ill take a listen to it later, but it will be interesting to see what it is that they come out with for those of us who have played the game for the last too many years of our lives. Some of the suppositions of what it might be sound like it would be cool, but mostly meh. I havent played Halo much since I got a beta invite to D&D online for their soon to come free to play service.

I should also note that Bungie does not officially support Halo PC (which is owned by Microsoft, not Bungie) but since the build machine is under my desk and not at MS, I fixed these several bugs as a favor to the community. I can't promise any future support, nor can I open-source the code for community development.

But it does eliminate the possibility of having the game open source.

If doubt it.
If so, great. But I seriously don't think it will happen.

Only if MS decided to release the source, which they very well could of, but ehh... doubtful.

Why?
They still have a huge userbase in PC, there is no reason for them to make it free.

Under the settings you can make it full screen high resolutions, so you can't even tell =P.
I think that'd be pretty cool if it happened to halo, it might pick up a good amount of new players.

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Quake Live should still be downloaded imo. It wastes my bandwidth like a mofo and got my bro lagging bad when playing some other game on the same network.
I doubt they will release source code or give us hpc players beta keys for some Halo Live shit, but something less impressive will likely happen soon.

They should pull another Marathon and open source the damn thing :3.
I doubt this is going to be much of a big deal. Bungie and Gearbox are both tied up with 2 or 3 projects each right now as is.
Doubtful, but they make make a Halo: Gold Edition bundle like MS has done with other games, which would bundle up Halo 1 and 2 and maybe update it a bit. I kinda doubt that though.

Well it was part of the original patch for CE that was never released, so I'm sure it will be included.

So what's that mean? No more "Checking for Updates" screen?
