Hey kornman00 when are you going to finish cracking the h2v editing kit?
now i know this might seem like showing you the same pictures over and over again (but after months of interruptions, comp failures thanks to my stupid desktop not being able to handle vista, then downgrading and then term papers and finals) i'm glad to finally be able to start working on detailing my terrain.
althoug you might not see the additions on my level, i attached the level's bases, began working on cliff geometry to add variation to the middle-section of the level, scrapped that huge interior structure (i'm trying to go for a more waterworks-meets-epitaph look for that section that's going to be underground) added a gateway (yes i know it looks unoriginal) to the middle section
now things i feel i have left to do before i can even think about being done with creating the level geometryi have to say though, i'm really dissapointed in my progress in this level so far (all this time wasted and nothing to show except a halo compiler/script-editor program and these lousy screens of geomery error laden lanscapes)
- create a newer-more-streamlined interior structure (downloaded tons of pics of forerunner interiors between halo 2 and halo 3)
- place more cliff geometry in the middle valley (where i intend to have a waterfall if ghost's bluestreak scripts will let me)
- work on teleport structures (i like to call them gateways) but essentially they're like what CMT has on their levels by the bases- structures or rooms that house the teleporter.
- add the skybox
- add extra structures and details that i intend to have outside of the level
maybe after i finish working on the bsp i'll get to making custom content for it...
Hey guys Ive been busy lately I havnt been able to be on much except to check forums, today I finally Ive had some time today to work in photoshop a bit, I know how you all hated this texture I have been working on well I did a little to it not much as you can see Ive added a few scratches, color change, ect. I cant say its much better honestly, but Ill leave that up to you all to decide.

Yes well as you can see this here is an attempt at a forerunner texture in matter of fact my first attempt. It's not that detailed with the lines and stuff its basic to see if I can get somewhat the look. I am not saying its good or bad I'm not judging it, thats the community's (You all) job to do.

Um. Lines on a basic material. Yay. Looks more human than forerunner tbh, and the material itsself doesn't seem so great. It's very splotchy and in general not metal-ish.Quote:

EDIT: Yet I took Dano's Tutorial and I still cant get the grasp of damn forerunner texturing. I mean Im not the best at texturing but it seems I only am decent atm doing human looking textures.... Dano you need to get on aim even though I know you dont like tlaking to me "Thus I bug you so much well I havnt bugged you about the one problem I had awhile back. I just need your advice on this. Dude, those spikes suck. Take them off, or make them look better, seriously. So far.....whole model......kinda bland. :/ Sorry, but needs a heck of a lot more detail. Perportions are way off too.
Terror, use shot tags. Also, it doesn't look any better. Filters and grunge brushes != a good texture. Try looking up more tutorials. Even the last gen ones give you the basics, and you will grow into next gen on your own when you become competent.
Lol Im downloading a shit load of tutorials off a site that came with photoshop magazines but these are if you lost the dvd so you can download them :P cheap way ehh.
(Not my model, but an attempt to import one) This is gonna be the model for my shock rifle if I could get the fucking textures and FP to work (I'm holding it in the picture). It's set up with the sniper nodes, and I gave it a ground point so I could use it for both FP and 3P, set up the gun to use Sniper animations, so I don't know what's wrong with it. >(
It's not smooth as how it is in Gmax but oh well, comments are welcome.

@LDL: It's interesting. to my mind, it's not the gentle but tough handling that an elite or a spartan would use, but more the slightly wobbly a tad unfamiliar handling of a marine (or possibly a grunt).
For that reason, I like it even if that may not what you were aiming for :)
smash, why don't you try working on the forerunner textures again but only this time use the ones for the tutorial level as a refrence (it also never hurts to take a look at a bunch of halo2/3 pictures that have forerunner structures in them) i'm pretty sure if you haven't noticed, forerunner textures use anything but squares in their textures. the most common thing are the angular lines and the shapes on the floor plating that look like glyphs.
another thing about forerunner textures is 9 out of 10 times they will have some degree of symmetry (yea i know i'm not one to talk, but that's the best i could come up with)
on another side note, take the spikes off the 4-wheeler (it looks kinda dumb) and add more detailing.

the back part of the base is bad yes I know and the bars have some erros
but it will all be fixed the next time you see it
selentec however the fuck you spell your name. Try creating that something your own idea and all. It may takes days, weeks, or even months to think of it all but its atleast yours. I mean I havnt modeled anything recently because I just havnt got any ideas to come to me its just how things go.
Mostly, Im trying to get the hang of that angle tool thingy first before. Then when I get an idea of something to model Ill start working on something original.

I actually don't see a good plave to use boolean on making that base. The grid part oin the mancannon could hav been accomplished by using the connect tool and then extruding everyother poly.

Grunt, you should use a few pieces next time and save some time, then connect them one they're ready. Also, doesn't look like you're following the reference images very well. I know there's only so much you can see from the pics I sent you, but there's lots of pics online that you can use too.

yeah the verts aren't heavy in that area, specifically because they're going to end up compressed together. the stock pinches inward right there so i have some vert moving to do, then it'll be the slickness.
or i could use the cut tool some more but w/e.

Btw great model, but is it going to look as good as it does here as in-game? The stuff you made for Ambush well looked great in renders but were kinda blah. They were not bad nor excellent.

nah, i never told you i copied it poly by poly. i don't ever remember talking to you about the map, tbh. i have said time and time again that i used the bsp's for isometric blueprints to find the correct degree of curvatures and where objects are repeated. besides that, who in their right mind would copy everything poly by poly? just rip and release. besides, looking at the council chambers, it was about 11k triangles in my viewport, so i had to make everything far lower poly :downs:

DEE, those textures aren't very good. sign up at www.sourceblog.org and you'll find a lot of tutorials on how to create texture bases.
