I'm only just at Specializations (which are fucking stupid, I have to level up 10 more times just for a perk? Neat. Oh, and some random armor I don't give a fuck about), so I'm level 54 right now I believe.
I have seen 90s+ though on multiple occasions.
I'm a 96 but I been eating dorritos and game fuel like a mofo.
I have a bunch of codes that i didnt use yet, but I haven't been playing lately, plus right now im running of XBL codes friends gave me -_-. Christmas I'm getting a new Game setup in my room, so i'll finally have an xbox that's mine with a nice rig and no shit wifi connection. Oh and I had to tell my father to buy me Halo Reach Legendary Edition:) I need a little flashback.
Well shit. That sucks.
Wonder what happens to the achievements I've gotten so far thanks to the map pack...
Actually I have the points to download the map pack, I forgot I redeemed a point card I got years ago and didn't use it. Is it worth it?
Yeah, the maps are all medium-large sized, but they vary in play style. Also depends on the gametype you're playing with them, Shattered I think has some hills that are either really easy to defend or really hard to defend depending on which one you're in.

My goodness, 343i, it can't be this difficult to retain features from game to game. File sharing is borked, campaign scoring is missing, campaign theater is out, firefight is gone. I'm surprised this game even shipped with forge or theater mode at all.Quote:
File Share
Search for in-game File Share is still offline. Custom searches (by tag, most recommended, and most downloaded) are not enabled and will return “no files found”. We utilized something new for this particular Halo 4 feature, and it’s taking us longer than we initially anticipated getting it to a fully functional state. We recognize this is not an optimal situation, and we’ll continue working on it until it reaches shipping quality. In the meantime, here are the different actions you can take in your in-game Halo 4 File Share:• Upload files
• Download files
• Add to File Share
• Remove from File Share
• View someone else’s File Share (by Gamertag)
• Tag Files
• Recommend Files
• Receive File recommendations
This issue also affects web availability of the Halo 4 File Share. We expect both Search and web access to come online in early 2013, and we’ll provide another update in January. Again, we apologize for the delay, and we know this is painful for many of you. We’ll be brainstorming ways to celebrate both features’ release (contests, activities, etc.), so let us know via our forums if you have any ideas in that regard.
I still CAN'T RENDER SHIT.
I have 25 clips from Reach I need to render for another Stacker video but I CAN'T because 343 bloody sucks. Also H4 rendering.
Addendum to Arteen's post: Even with forge shipped its still incomplete. It sucks now, and many of the pieces don't fit right, almost as if they didn't even test them.
And what a bunch of jackasses. "Pr-release sneak peek" my ass.
Anyone have the container file for the Crimson map pack?
Black screened during a Dominion match for 5 WHOLE MINUTES. When I was about to say fuck it, the game said selecting host with better quality. Thinking I could finally resume the game, I stayed in. Instead, I was removed from the match. The cherry on top? I got put on probation in matchmaking for quitting. :ugh:
Anyone wanna run through legendary co-op?
I do, me, pick me
Just played Team Slayer Pro...
Holy fuck it's like the old Halo days, no armor ability bullshit and no loadouts (aside from picking DMR, BR, AR).
Why had I never tried this before? I've found my true love <3
I can't stand not having a motion tracker though.
So, did people just get lazy and stop uploading to youtube, or did 343i lie about spartan ops coming out weekly?
Spartan Ops is on mid-season break right now and won't be back until late January.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
About a year old, but I'd imagine the Chief's life would mimic Steve's while off duty, minus the radio host part.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKuN08Hgpgg
I don't know why, but "You got your yogurt." had me laughing too hard.
Master Chief would be a great radio host.
"This is Master Chief here at one-one-seven-point-zero FM, bringing you the greatest hits this side of the galaxy. Rock me, when you need me."
Woah, something cool and new just popped out of 343 Industries: The Halo 4 Infinity Challenge.
Top Prize for War Games is a UNSC themed Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and for Spartan Ops your player model gets a cameo in one of the future Halo titles.
While either of those would be amazing to achieve, I'm looking at the lower tier prizes and I'm still drooling.
Definitely going to participate in this.
Uh yeah, this came out a while ago. Signed up a few weeks ago.
"New and interesting" is me not going to Halo Waypoint for over a month then discovering stuff people knew for the last couple of weeks. lol
For anyone that does wanna do Legendary Co-Op, my gamertag is LL PlasX LL
So far only Korn seemed interested, but I really want that achievement.
Mine is the same as my Username. Also, I got Halo 4 early so definitely add me. :)
MS/343i continue to fuck up with the DLC: http://halo.bungie.org/news.html?item=38304
This is what happens when you try to cover up your mistakes like they were good deeds.
i was just having a discussion yesterday about companies being too far up their own asses to admit it when they make mistakes. i feel like it would go so much farther in the PR department if they would just sack up and say "yeah we fucked up, sorry guys."
thanks for the ammo either way though.
I was thinking about doing the legendary run through either tonight if you guys want to, or wednesday / thursday. Whatever everyone wants.
That suck moment when I'll be available Thursday night. :v:
I guess I'll put this here since it's Halo 4 related. I have some Halo 4 avatar item codes if anyone's interested - the Cryptum t-shirt and Halo 4 t-shirt, one male and female of each, and also a Mass Effect 3 Normandy SR2 (Alliance) avatar prop. Drop me a line if anyone wants one, since I've no need for them.
I'm free after 2PM EST (GMT-5) so anytime after that works.
Works for me
So I've been playing SpOps since I spent the 14 Day Free Gold Pass that came with the game. It's a lot of fun, albeit some missions are a bit redundant and frustrating as hell when you go it Solo on Heroic. 343i didn't really want anyone to do it alone anyways, especially given how fucking stupid the AI is in these missions. In the first Two Giants mission, where all of the AI have Fuel Rod Cannons and you basically have to strafe endlessly to kill them, the Spartan AI literally just crouch walks into the narrow passage one at a time and get blown to smithereens. Then in both rescue missions where they want you to save the Marine AI, the Marines don't do jack shit except die. Then the AI Turrets in a couple of missions don't really do anything when I thought they'd at least be blasting away at Phantoms or aircraft. Was a bit of fun, but c'mon 343i, if I wanted some bot maps where the AI is often OP and dumb as fuck, I would have just played Halo Custom Edition.
That said, I still think a lot of missions are a lot fun and I don't doubt they are a lot smoother with more than one person.
That post reminds me that I still have to beat Chapter 4 of Episode 5 on Legendary. :gonk:
I agree though, some missions are fun but most are redundant as hell.
Wait, spartan AI? I've seen Spartans pop up for maybe 15 seconds at a time every now and then, but are you supposed to get AI players to replace theoretical human players? I've played most of the missions alone on Legendary (which is absurd btw) and it's almost always been just me taking out one or two elites per death.
this shit still pisses me off.

I always thought MC looks boss in H4 but the rest D:. They look like creatures that crawled out of a nuclear wasteland.
You forgotthe JackalsGodzilla.
If we're gonna do that, people need to get on nao. Korn and I are both online. I'm idling around till I see 2 more.
Stupid faces aside, I like the Elites. I also prefer MC's Halo 4 armor to what's in Halo 2 and 3. Grunts and jackals are awful.
I liked the Halo 3 armor. Would be awesome to see it made to the level of fidelity that Halo 4 had. I also like the new elites, but yeah I think the grunts and jackals were too different from the original characters and that bothered me a lot. Really well done characters, but definitely not grunts or jackals.
Looking at them side by side, I notice the Halo 4 armor is actually a bit reminiscent of the Halo 1 armor. I like that.
I was having a great game of SWAT just a few minutes ago, when all of a sudden right as I got my killing frenzy, bam, lost XBL connection -_-. It was literally "Killing frenzy-disconnected from XBL"
Yet more evidence that it was unlikely 343i spent much time, if any, testing the campaign in co-op

Just bought this game, been playing through it on legendary...
Fuck binary rifle promethians. Just...Fuck 'em. Other than that, the game's been going pretty well. There's a few sections where the LOD really shits on the visuals though. Especially anything seen while flying in a banshee...
I don't get it.
The letters are the same no matter your orientation

Mind. Blown.
What's with the magic wand in the UiNSC logo?
Unlimited energy sword ammo glitch on Dawn (assuming you have three other people): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWhWH3ksbVM
If you don't have 3 extra ppl on hand, I suppose you could just go into campaign matchmaking
OH WAIT, forgot, that's one of the things 343i doesn't believe in.

I've played only two games. I have a Killing Frenzy and Triple Kill already. Hmmmmmmm.
This was my first game:

Technically you have to transpose it.

I met this guy last night. He was a friend of a friend of a friend who stopped by my place for a few drinks. I was damn surprised to meet someone from 343i considering I am on the East Coast, and they are based in Washington state; apparently he grew up around my area and was visiting for the holidays.
Anyhow, we had a long discussion about how much we both disliked the COD-ing of the multiplayer, and how hard it must have been for the art teams to develop assets given the hardware constraints of the 360 (he told me all art teams combined were allocated only 800 MB of memory at any time of gameplay). And since he was only on the Forerunner art team, I expressed how much I hated the new marines and pelican, at which point he said that he also disliked the broadsword and the new UNSC aircrafts in general.
That sounds like a fun opportunity. The lich looked great, although I honestly didn't care for the Forerunner designs.
Looking at his blog post, the forerunner and covenant designs do look rather similar. They have the same "monotone base color with accent lights" thing going on.
When people say this it still bothers me. It's not really so much that it's "CODification" of any kind because a lot of other FPS games use it (Tribes, Battlefield to name a couple), but rather pulling Halo to current FPS modernization. But I can see why the modernization bothers a lot of people, mainly because Halo has been so stoic in its gameplay philosophies in comparison to the other games. It's obvious 343i is just trying to keep Halo in the FPS race by modernizing it as well as bring in more players. It is a business strategy. However, as an artist and fan of the series, it's easy to be irritated by that fact.
I also agree that the art assets of the UNSC aircraft were bogus and a bit awkward looking. UNSC stuff is supposed to be crisp, slightly curvy, and sharp. I really felt like the curvatures were too liberal this game, albeit the weapons and vehicles look good. Marines are kind of cliche, but I do think they are realistic, even if they are useless half of the time. Still not seeing what the problem with the Forerunner is though.
I wish they kept with the Halo 3 forerunner style. That shit was awesome.
The new stuff almost looks like it came straight from Tron.
"Modernization"? If we're talking proper modernization of the competitive FPS genre, we aren't talking about perk systems or other fads. We're talking about theater mode, file sharing, gametype and map customization, online stat tracking and the like. Halo 4 is actually a regression, considering how Reach did everything better.
Also, all of the new CoD-like elements in Halo 4 suck ass.
I think Halo 4 is proof that a franchise cannot be successful on its name alone. It takes a quality comapany to make it successful. I'm going back to following Bungie and just tossing Halo 4 in the closet. Unless an ODST sequel comes out (and it's good!), I'm not buying another Halo title.
I mean, look. Here's 343i, with the biggest (or at least damn near) franchise for the Xbox and they've failed miserably. Their sales were based solely on the fact that it was another Halo title. Remember back before the game came out? All the "I'm buying it because it's Halo." remarks? That's all they had going for them, and it's all they probably ever will have. Customs used to be fun, forge was a blast, and theater was useful. Now customs are a wash, forge sucks, and I can't do a damn thing with theater. Matchmaking is shot to hell (minus some golden playlists), the campaign was too short, and Spartan Ops has become an experience-farming whorehouse.
I think it's fine that they're putting something in, but they never should have broken or removed what we had in the first place. That's like buying a kid batteries for a birthday present and not getting him the actual present. It'd be nice if we could have our cake and eat it too, but I'll be damned if I let 343 have any of mine.

I'll admit Theatre mode, file sharing, and customization have all been lackluster as a result of 343i not picking up on important bugs and other obvious issues. However, calling the game shit because of those is simply barbaric. I also think Halo 4 does better than what Reach did at a gameplay level. It's sad knowing what you loved in past games has gone south for the time being. I personally think the game has succeeded in being a pilot for the next trilogy. However, it just shows the differences in opinions I guess.
As far as talking about FPS Modernization, I was simply referring to Baron's statement and nothing else in this thread. I was talking about perk systems and other fads if you want to know what I was referring to without quoted reference.
Halo 4 felt more "halo" than reach did, honestly...especially the multiplayer but I was glad to see no fucking firefight parts in the singleplayer
Plotwise...I still have a LOT of questions but it was enjoyable. Will have to replay not on legendary to really get a feel for it
edit: tbh almost all my complaints are art direction related
How are you able to use those?
Spartan Ops is irritating in that teammates can be dickwads and kill your vehicles or run you over, and there's nothing you can do about it. You can't ban them. Fucking hell.
In terms of armor abilities though: OMG BLINK
There are a lot of Fireifghts, but mind you the levels themselves can be quite fun at times. Think more like ODST Firefights except you have a more expansive playground with storyline objectives, as well as infinite lives.
You can't, it's hardened in the code. Halo4Council probably is using some hackware to show the demonstration.
I played it solo on Heroic and then I learned to appreciate my teammates entirely.lol.
As far as Blink: YES. We are one with the shadows. Now the Stalker Specialization will truly have meaning!
Balance-wise: It would be too OP. All it would take is a Blink then Sword Lunge or shotgun blast and you'd be toast. There would need to be some sort of time threshold or serious indicator to balance it at its current speed. Of course, if the teleport took longer to happen, then it's less about OP Sword Lunge and more about being a useful skill besides Evade or Jetpack (given both are meant to help movement).
I REALLY like Hacker though. I think they should implement that in a DLC because in Halo:Reach I think every Armor-Lock-Hating user would have loved it. In fact, it makes me wonder if Bungie had brainstormed it and just couldn't fit it in. Oh Xbaux 360, your time is near. Let's just hope there's a lot more power with this next gear. Lol rhymes. It's Christmas Eve folks. Deal with it.
The best part is how often they re-use the SpOps maps themselves. There are eight maps between 25 missions, and only two of those maps are custom. The rest are from campaign or multiplayer. Have fun playing that one section in campaign, then play it backwards in SpOps, then playing it forward again in SpOps, then backwards again, then backwards once more for good measure.
For the purposes of doing challenges, is there a list anywhere of what SpOps maps have the most of X amount of enemy? Like so far shootout in valhalla is the best for getting hunters, but what maps are good for say Jackals or Elites?
This is a fun read.
tl;dr Halo 4 is dumb
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/...ll-rank-system
I do not know if this was posted in here before, but considering I'm almost 127.. I'm gonna need something more to work towards other than commendations in this game.
I've challenged myself to use the worst gun in the game exclusively now. Now, I know I'm not good, but holy hell I am having fun racking up kills with the suppressor. I also managed to discover where it is best used too.
- Paired up with a buddy. Assist or steal the kill.
- Use ordinance near enemy spawns as a lure. Hide until they approach your stuff then take 'em out while they are grabbing your drop.
- In tight corridors, around corners, or in caves. Unleash hell.
Objective and FFA matches work to your advantage with the suppressor. I did both BTB and Team Slayer and only select BTB maps like Longbow, Vortex, and Exile seemed to work for me. You don't want something wide open like Ragnarok especially without buildings or enclosed chokepoints.
It's not a camping weapon, but you almost have to use it like one until you're comfortable with it. In time I was able to 1 v 3 BR opponents or go toe-to-toe with an overshielded, SAW waving maniac in the open. Also learning how to keep away from oncoming bullets helps. Dodging shit is half the battle. I use PV to keep tabs on nearby baddies. It lets me know how I should prepare. Use what you think is best though.
Hope this helped pave the way for future suppressor masters. Good luck.
The suppressor is bad? Shit, I've been using it quite a bit...Mostly on the smaller maps though. It's a really fast close-range killer from my experience.
Of course, I'm low level and probably playing against low skill players...
Someone did a test and showed that among all of the automatic rifles, the Suppressor is the best up close and the Assault Rifle is the best from midrange. The Storm Rifle is like a hybrid of both rangewise because it isn't quite as proficient as both in their respective areas but closes the gap in between.
So I finally managed to beat the campaign on legendary last night. Holy shit that was a bitch. I don't think me and my friend have ever had that much trouble beating any Halo campaign before (been doing it since 1). Was pretty great though, will give them that.
inb4 wearing Mark VI armor like everyone else, I use Raider.
Just like the Halo 2 beam rifles. Fuck I hated those.
Except if you're watching, you can see when you're about to die. Beam Rifle wielding jackals will never give you that kind of warning.
Also, I had more trouble with Scattershot users than snipers on Legendary. Fucking Battlewagons. :ugh:
FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK those assholes. At least you have a chance at dodging Binary Rifles. If the Promethean Knights want to, they can just bumrush you then blast you to death.
H2 Jackals were also more scripted, so if you knew where they would be before they knew where you'd be then you were okay. The fact that both Knights and Crawlers could be ANYWHERE to shoot with a Binary Rifles is simply terrifying. I played a SpOps mission on Heroic on for some reason they ALL HAD BINARY RIFLES. I think I died like 20 times that game.
Only really had problem with the first scattershot user I encountered. Once I realized you can't let knights run to cover FUCKING EVER and you need a constant bead on them it became a lot more manageable. I kept a PP/"single-shot" secondary (to take down shields quickly), and a headshot-capable primary (preferring the DMR but often using the lightrifle) and things worked out.
