Yes, actually, that was one of the aims. The Army claims it is inferior to their Interceptor system though, but that is because they want to keep the cheaper Interceptor and not have to switch to the more effective, and more expensive, Pinnacle Dragon Skin armor. If the general public knew this, they'd be outraged that the Army (and other branches) refuses to equip its soldiers with the best.

Needler detonations may be easily contained, but plasma will just eat right on through. While it can withstand high heat (say, 120*F), certainly not plasma temperatures.

Actually, one [highly advanced] method of repelling heat would be to use crystalline nanoboxes to trap heat within them, that would disallow it to conduct through the armor to the wearer. Same could be applied to visible light, meaning, a balance of the two in one armor system could potentially grant the user a huge resistance to laser fire, making the new "splazer" near useless.

Agreed... not to mention that elites fired in way smaller bursts.
Maybe this rifle will water-down their damage potential a bit and justify their obscene ROF.

Elites didn't need long bursts...the Plasma Rifle took your shields down in four hits. Your armor was more resilient than your shields on Legendary, which is sad (however, 1 needle stuck in you was one bar of health down).
In Halo 1, 4 single shots of the Plasma pistol equals -1% charge. 2 single shots on the Plasma Rifle equals -1% charge. In Halo 2, it's the other way around, but the number of shots per percent varies by one in either direction, to make it seem random.

what? Plasma Rifle in Halo 2 was moderately strong, at least stronger than a popping plasma pistol. Unless u dual wield that with an SMG...then, i'll reconsider. The PR in Halo was OK. It looked crappy anyways and the sound was shit.

The plasma rifle in halo 2 was less... satisfying to shoot because the noise and overall feel of it was weak. I hope CMT goes Nucking Futz with the plasma rifles and all of their particle effects.
In my opinion, thats one of the things that make or break a gun. The effects, and the overall 1337ness of it. For example, the Halo 3 Plasma Rifle has all of these electrical effects when it fires. It just feels right.
And don't get me started on the Galileian....

Nice. Like you said, its using the origional bitmaps, so its dark, but i like the blood on the elites. Kinda looks like he got shot with a paintball gun though. Maybe have some areas where its dripping, not just some radom splatters. I'd comment on the brutes, but im having some trouble seeing them. Overall, its looking good, and i cant wait for the release.

I actually would like to see some of the dark areas lightened up a good bit if it can be done. Or at least some lights added so it's not so dark. I don't mind dark parts but the halo SP had way too many of them. Especially in the library i wish it was not dark at all. It would give it the feel kind of like "who left the lights on" which i love.
I wish flood were not in the game lol.

I don't know... Dynamic light would rule in that case. Have flashing lights on and off and as the flood swarm, you can only see them for split seconds so they draw closer and closer while you empty clips into the space you think they are.
Also, I'm sure someone has said this before, but will we see pickup able swords in single player? And another thing, will anyone make a new 3p model of the Energy Sword. Halo's is utter fail :fail:

We will never do swords that will be wieldable. And there is no real sense to fix up the H1 sword model, half the time it's around you're busy running from it, and theres never time to go look at it.

I dont see any contradiction in that. sure, all u have to do in the narrow and hypothetically dark tunnels is throw some nades ahead and see if u have had some succes. but if one would leave a big section between these undergoung tunnels in more or less in complete darkness and really sporadically spawns flood (mb even some invisible combat forms) then, well... hello mister spoilurpants

as for the Zteam sword, try using it with more than 200 ping then tell me why it's broken (though in SP it may work. have you guys actually tried it in SP or just discounted it altogether?)

But Z-team sword is still buggy as hell. We tesed the sword for our SP, and it's an epic fail. We don't have carbines or beam rifles in the mod, because we have the ma5k, which is pretty much the same, and the human sniper, which is pretty much the same as the Beam rifle.

beam riffle is better than the human sniper on several levels (looks cooler and shoots faster) plus getting sniped by enemies would make a nice change (stick some jackal snipers up on that beam thing on the beach raid on TSC to really make you use the cover)

But thats my side of the equation. Teh Lag and Masterz and everyone have all got their own little pieces to add yet. Also, since we cant have custom vehicle tags in halo 2 vista at moment, Madworkz might donate his ATV for d40/The Maw's warthog run, just to at least show it off somewhere, since it's pretty mch sitting unused on his hard drive at the moment. Don't hold me to that one though, I breifly talked to him about that a while back.

altough i hated jackal snipers in h2 (esp. on legendary/heroic) they rly could add something to certain sections in sp2. but for the beach raid on tsc...well i h8 when my teammates r being pwned too hard so unless they r coded to know when to take cover and let the mc take care of biusness and when to charge (h2 phailt 2), i would say jackal snipers = yay BUT only in allieless sections.

A while ago, Masterz hired me to do a promotional video for the new Single Player. I am now getting the feeling that he might want something to show for it. That looks just pwnage. It reminds me of how lucky we all are that we're going to be able to play something like this for free... it's just awesome!
By the way, if it's still being discussed, having some flashlight-only places in the Library (or anywhere in the campaign) gets my vote! The only problems I foresee are those from people who have graphics cards that don't render the flashlight correctly. However, both my old Intel 82845G and my sister's laptop's GeForce 4 (they both had problems rendering the flashlight) render the entire game a lot brighter, so this shouldn't be a problem...

Appearently the brutes dodging and running animations have improved a lot. Their overall posture seems to be a bit more...relaxed (unlike the early stickuptheir butts animations).
Btw:Glad the H1 biped made i ingame.

Go play with zteam sword on LAN, its not reliable. We have alot of new covie weapons since spv1, 5 of them in fact.

A decent shotgun nowadays can have an effective range up to 50 or so meters (50m X 3.3 ft/m = 165 ft). There are these magic little devices in some shotguns called "chokes." I feel by 2552 the shotgun would be rather optimized for all kinds of combat.

All I can think of is the Spiker, the Brute Shot, The Brute and Jackal PRs. That's only 4. Is there a weapon that your not telling us about?

so what if there are only a few covenant weapons, they are cool and custom. You should be glad that CMT added those new covie weapons. Or you can stick with needler, plasma rifle, and plasma pistol. :) The Human weapons are much better in SPv2 than in SPv1. The M7 SMG in SPv1 was damn powerful, i used it pretty much in Silent Cartographer and AotCR in close quarter combat (in fact, I killed hunters with it!:D). I cannot wait for the release of SPv2.

Or it could be the Engineer Plasma Rifle: It's purple and it's not going to be seen in the game because there's no engineers, but it will take up tag space. It shoots out a big plasma bolt that fixes stuff and never overheats.
