Anyone else get their campaign levels reset? It happened to me, but it still says i've completed the campaign on normal, and gotten a few levels in on legendary. I didn't do anything to my hard drive or my xbox, and my rank didn't go away. :C

Yeah, when I first played, I deleted and recovered my account due to moving to the Reach slim, however I lost all my campaign progress, however on my service record it still had missions completed: 16 (replayed some of the missions a few times), but I did it again, it is a awesome campaign, so I didn't mind. :)
Only levels I can think of on the top of my head are: Assault on the Control Room (H1), Two Betrayals (H1), Quarentine Zone (H2)[Maybe it wasn't snow, maybe ashes?], The Covenent (H3)[Temporary], Halo (H3), The Package [Reach], proberbly not them all, but close to it I suppose.
Avalanche was neat but albeit irritating to play, I blame Halo 3 and Snowbound was fucking terrible, also blame Halo 3.
Also, I think he means full blown campaign levels such as AoTCR. I also desire for a Containment styled multiplayer map, seeing as how I never had the privilege to play H2 on live It wouldn't be so bad if we had more pieces to use from, sure we we have a SHIT TON of stuff to use, but its mired by the item limitations. Also I'm getting sick of using lockout pieces, why not use pieces from Containment or Guardian. It's getting really drab already to see the same architecture over and over again.
How about that one level where you working your way up that massive forerunner structure and inside you shoot 343 with laser?
Your being real picky Dwood, theres a reason there hasnt been tons of snow levels, the game setting just doesnt fit having tons of snow everywhere, its like us saying "yeah there hasnt been any volanco levels with tons of lava. Halo 1 was like, the calm after the storm, new world new experiences.
My ODST stats say I havent completed legendary, but I have the achievement to prove I have.
Anyone else feel the daily challenges are getting really bs-y, nearly all the points are focused on one challenge and its a hard one. The last level I completed on legendary was Nightfall, I died a ton of times, this challenge will be a pain.
Yeah, I was going to do nightfall without dying, but that first section had that invisible fucking elite shooting a beam rifle and some crock arsed grunt who decided to go suicidal after I killed an elite. Beam rifle + dual plasma grunt = no time to escape.
So I did what any sensible credit earner would do. I played the level until the last checkpoint (dying, numerous times), saved+quit, reloaded, finished the level, earned my challenge. 4k is hardly enough for doing that shit in a "legit" manner.
Oh, and Pass the Rock? It's the third challenge that I know of to be problematic/bugged. They really need to send the week's challenges to the play test lab before publishing them. They play test everything else.
anyone else laugh at textbox001?
I made it to Waterfront on Nightfall and thought I was on the last wave before moving on. I was focused in on sniping an elite while cloaked and I didn't hear a Phantom setting down right on top of me. Instead of reloading last checkpoint, I panicked and tried to run.
I'll try to get it legitimately. I don't want to go down the illegitimate road, because that's probably all I'll ever do. It was fun figuring out how best to do a deathless run on Legendary on ONI, even though that last Elite with the FRG taught me a painful, painful lesson. Once I figure it out once, it shouldn't be a big deal when it resurfaces as a challenge in the future.
I'd like to do them legitimately, but Legendary since Halo 2 (which was the worst bullshit) has always had random bullshit moments to fuck you over entirely no matter how well you played up to that point or what's going on when playing for no-dying runs.
You know what I mean. Suicide grunts that make no noises until turning the corner they're standing at, a jackal that'll snipe you through a tiny crack with a needle rifle when you're otherwise hidden well and waiting on a shield to recharge, and fuel rod and conc-wielding elites with aimbots. The AI reacts so unpredictably to things that oftentimes there's no blanket, all-purpose strategy to keep yourself alive. Sometimes attrition while hiding works, other times enemies will bum rush you.
The worst is the Skirmisher bum rushing. They are what basically caused me to die in my run of the level. Those things drive me up a freaking wall, I swear. In Firefight I have to sweep headshot them and one miss screws you over. They take AR bullets like a sponge takes in water and between them and the Elite Ultra with the Pseudo-Brute Shot, I had no where to turn and go. Has anyone noticed that the Plasma Pistol is like 5x more powerful per shot now?
3 PP shots bring down shields in multiplayer. And you can fire them FAST.
I just do those deathless Legendary achievements with a second controller. I still try to go through it deathless with a second controller (succeeded today), but I don't waste an hour's effort due to random BS.
So I did the first two missions legitimately without dying on Legendary, but when Nightfall would not give me nearly enough credits for actually beating it without dying, I chose to do it illegitimately.
That is the last time.
I got to the last checkpoint, but forgot to Save and Quit.
I am NOT redoing that.
Yeah, I did that one today with two friends and one of my friend's friends over live. We decided that we would go through the mission twice, having two people stay behind and the two others go out and finish the mission, and then switch around the second game. My friend and I were the first two to get the challenge without any problems. However, once it was our turn to go through the mission as the ones that are meant to die, one of our friends quit. So we're stuck with this douchebag who just got the game a few days before. Of course, we decided to be nice and help him get the challenge since he did it for us. We were literally two minutes from the end of the mission when the kid gets his hands on a Plasma Launcher and decided to experiment with it on his foot...Suffice to say that my friend and I weren't too happy...
Just finished it by myself. The brand of cowardly play I've cultivated served me well. I just stayed far away from the enemy, used Active Camo to set up my shots, and any time my shields came down, I reloaded last checkpoint. I know that last part is not in the spirit of the challenge, but here's how I choose to look at it: ::double middle fingers::
yeah, I'm trying to understand the reasoning for that name but it eludes me :s
I bet one week, some time in the future, there will be a weekly challenge to complete all campaign missions on legendary without dying. And it will be worth only 4k. Ba-dum tssssss-:ugh:.
I'm already tapping out on the new Weekly Challenge (30 kills in a MP game).
Oh, and jet-pack killing again? I use bumper jumper, assholes. It's hard to be deadly in the air when I have to choose between being able to aim and using the thrusters (look stick vs X button).
gotta use the claw dude.
ain't great but it's better than nothin'.
I'm rockin' Default
By the way, Team Objective and maybeBTB and Doubles for 30+ kills.
Recon controls for the win. Melee should never be anything but B. :|
Default is really dumb. I knew I would be using Recon when they first showed the controls before the beta. I switched them before even trying the defaults.
Same. I can't get used to bumper for melee, B is just too damned engrained. I also wish I could swap RB and X so that X is my action button and RB is my grenade switch, but the only ones that do that have something else retarded.
I love Recon- works great for me.
Shouldn't the next daily challenges have beat Tip of The Spear on Legendary without dieing or something?
As for controller layouts, I'd love to have the Halo 1/2 XBox controls, I use Recon at the moment, but I prefer X for Action and B for melee, which you don't get on default.
EDIT: Thanks moderator for fixing the D-post.
double post much?
also best idea for challenge

I've been bumper jumper for years. It allows me to jump and melee without losing the ability to aim, just like I could on PC. In Reach, jumper assigns armor abilities to X and that works great for every AA except the jetpack. Well, I can jetpack fine, I just can't fight while doing it. I wish I could tap X to engage the jetpack similar to how sprint is engaged, then use the jump button to apply thrust.
I use Recon. It's the closest to the configuration I'm used to. The only negative is when you throw grenades while using the jetpack; it really becomes obnoxious in challenges regarding the jetpack too.
Well, I'm somehow getting worse at this game while everyone's super pro. I can't land shots to save my life, but everyone else is spamming their DMR like it's going out of style, and still effortlessly popping off headshots. Armor Lock doesn't seem to be working for me, either.
Time for a break from this game.
Armour Lock doesn't work because everyone has figured out how to defeat it. It wasn't all that effective to begin with (unless someone was trying to squash you), just annoying.
@DarkHalo003: What challenges are you referring to? I can throw grenades just fine using Recon and the Jetpack.
Armor lock has been very effective for me, and there are still PLENTY of people who don't realize that they shouldn't stand too close, less they don't want their shields...and a melee to the face...and to die...bam.
(said the lady)
When I've gone into Armor Lock, they just stand right behind me. It knocks them back and pops their shield, but I can't turn around fast enough to do anything about it. Need a damn quick turn.
Jump forward instead?
That's why I typically stick close by to my team when I'm using it (but not too close, don't want them to feel the wrath of my shield's EMP). That way either I can act as bait, or I'll have some back up. When I team up with Masterz, we're an unstoppable force...almost like the juggernaut :iamafag:
However, sometimes I forget that I'm using AL. But sometimes, that's OK (I don't like using it in elite slayer b/c that loadout blows runny shit, but it was a desperate time in the game).
Armor lock's good if you know how to use it. saved my ass tons of times.. especially against rocket dudes
also you turn wherever your camera's facing when you come out. you can usually melee pretty much instantly.
Holy shit. I didn't know you could rotate the camera in AL. With my control scheme, I have to hold down X to stay in lock and can't twiddle with the look stick.
Try out clawing sometime, it'll help when you need to do stuff like that. I've gotten so used to it I use my index finger for all the buttons.. thumb never leaves the thumb stick.
I'm a freak like that
also, weekly challenge is BS going in alone
To anyone who thinks Armor Lock is ineffective, don't use it in FFA modes. Armor lock is the god of team games on cramped maps, being the one and only hard counter to grenades. Also, armor lock is by far and away the best AA for Elite Slayer. I've killed people more than once by throwing their own stickies back at them.
But yeah, like p0lar, I haven't been playing this game much for a while. The multiplayer is just so boring and mindless, I see no reason to continue until the rank cap is lifted. At least I finally got the armor I wanted, and it is pretty awesome.
The weekly challenge was really easy if you ask me...
I just got it playing Invasion Slayer. Wasn't easy, especially on Hemorrhage, but it was kinda worth it.
I pretty much always use Armour Lock, the only times I don't is when I need to use sprint, which isnt that often. Sometimes I simply pop into it, wait to see the animation of enemy reloading, unlock and kill him. Or when I see an enemy in armour lock, I walk up to them, wait a little then pop MY armour lock on, they usually freak out and drop theres, which is when I drop mine and melee them and kill.
Importance is variation, and also I try to time it so I always have 1 armour lock saved (Like I only use armour lock, till the circle is half full), then I can always pop in.
Playing with Korn and Masters, Masters and I are beast with AL, he pop in, screams down mic, and I get easy kill. Or sometimes, I throw a grenade, just as its about to go off, he drops into armour lock, hits enemy and I get easy kill.
So its 19th October, 10am PST (6pm for me), no updates :(
Also, sometimes I go to select stuff from my Local Files thing, and its grayed out (meaning no device is selected) but theres no way to select it...Apart from taking a screenshot/movie and trying to save, and one know how I can reguarly just select the save device. (HDD)
Bump, playlist update is out, no sign of that challenge display saying how close we are. Atom is an awful sniper map, theres just too many objects you cannot see past, like all above eye level.
O wow, this guy makes Jcap look like an amateur booster...
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/Co...=Sneaker%20Art
5 days worth of firefight, 179,000 covenant kills
I played Atom once and I loved it. it was complete chaos, just like C3ll.
:D
I have yet to play either of the maps, in which playlists do you see them often?
I just played Glacier in Score Attack, uhhh I love the bug in the system where the text does NOT show up what so ever or the weapon icons, pickup, .etc. That's just me.
Kornman was nice enough to render this for me in SD :D
It looks fake, but I 100% assure you this was in MM. FP view is better as I only see him, when he jumps up. So he startled me and I quickly jumped down and shot him
Betrayal system can suck my dick.
4 vs 4 Team Snipers on Reflection. Lucifer got a nosebleed and quit, connor I booted after about 5 seconds of game start for betraying me. And the G33 guy proceeded to betray me 13 times, those were the only times the game counted, they didnt count the times he shot my shields and blue team finished me off.
Why does it suck? I couldnt boot the second guy, even after 13 official betrayals..WTF?
wow.. I can't believe I never thought to do the challenge in invasion. got it first game.
fuck me.
Fack forgot the link >_<
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/Fi...ayer=Limited55
Oh I assassinated him on his right shoulder btw, you cant assassinate on the left shoulder though...Look in my fileshare for a first person view, also check out the random assassination I got (more like accidential assassination).
atom's not bad
atom is every 12 year old's "mlg" map
both bases are smack dab facing each other with little to no cover when spawning
only real action happens in the middle, why bother to put that side walkway?
and suddenly GRENADES...GRENADES EVERYWHERE!!!
only weapons seem to be hammer, RL, and DMR on map
also why is it called "cliff hanger" if its not HANGING OFF the cliff"
I still have yet to see the new maps.
Yeah, Bungie seems to have a fetish for putting Team Snipers on the absolute worst fucking maps possible. I used to love Snipers on Halo 3 when it went to maps like Valhalla, Sandtrap, and Avalanche. You know, SNIPING maps. But all they want to go to now is fucking garbage Blackout and Heretic, where the game is all about double shotting and melee attacks. I haven't even bothered trying Snipers on Reach.
WHY THE FUCK ARE THE PEOPLE IM PLAYING WITH RETARDED?!
seriously i got into one game where i got the wraith and some 12 year old with downs thought it fun to cripple the wraith by circle strafing with a revenant and repeatedly shooting the wraith's exhaust port, of course i cant boot him when he betrays me, but the moment i kill him in retaliation i get booted
then on paradiso I tried playing elite slayer...NOPE, another 12 year old HAD to have the fucking ghost, so he stunned me as i was leaving and STUCK me, he killed me TWICE (once by stick and then running me down with the ghost)
I killed him ONCE and got booted
seriously at this rate im ready to strangle the idiot who thought it a good idea to go back to gaylo3's boot system where the system is LOL RANDOM instead of putting tick marks against betrayers
Son of a bitch.
I completed the Weekly-barely-and then proceeded to play a match of Firefight. Everyone left before the match started except for one other guy. Probably the most mature person I've ever played with on XBL and just before the final wave-the Xbox overheats.
I swear, Reach is the LAST 360 game I'll ever buy. The damn thing is pas warranty, so I can't get it replaced cheaply.
Yeah, I avoid Team Snipers matches (unless it was in BTB) because the Sniper is so easy to use now as compared to Halo 3. And I do agree, Pinnacle is one of my least favorite maps out there probably do to the level of DMR gametypes mixed with no limited areas for snipers and the Rocket Launcher, which baffles me why there is even one on there when there is no Banshee. I also want to know why there is a Rocket Launcher on Reflection; the map has enough hazards enough (Sort of liek Boneyard in Invasion towards the Elites) so why add the most hazardous weapon for close quarters to it already?
About the Overheating Xbox; just call Microsoft and raise hell; you'll get a free Xbox with 1-3 months of free XBL.
Is anyone here besides me getting degeneratively worse the more game time you have? My K/D (and game performance in general) has sucked incredibly this week in comparison to last week. I just played a game of Team Slayer, got 4 kills (one of which was from the grave) and died 8 times. Usually I have 15 kills and have died about 4 times. Anyone else exhibiting this too?
I guess it's because it's just placing you with better people than before, I've gone through the same thing with the SWAT playlist :/
Oh, and am I the only one that sucks balls with the sniper?
You can ask Pooky or Sever, I tried a game in rumble pit last night. I kept around 4th or 5th the entire game, because everyone was playing like a goddamn douchebag, I kept getting bullshat out of kills, and raged pretty fucking hard.
I spam a magnum close range at someone and drop the shields, go in for the lethal punch... my target lives, somehow I'm dead from him hitting me once with the butt of his DMR.
I get my hands on a shotgun, and fire on someone point blank, hit them square in the face. They live and proceed to beat me down.
I drop a grenade at someone's feet, drop their shields, and shoot them three times in the head with a magnum. They proceed to jetpack backwards, alive, and launch a grenade at me that kills me instantly. I ragequit.
Fuck reticle bloom. Go back to weapons that maintain a uniform accuracy with a max rate of fire. It may promote skill on paper, but all it really promotes is spamming your headshot weapons faster than usual with a decent chance you'll get lucky headshots.
played arena and somehow i was able to actually PLAY a match without team killing in retaliation (only time I TK is if the guy did it on PURPOSE)
I was shocked i got through the three matches required to obtain a daily rating
why cant people in BTB be as smart and think for themselves?
Polar, where is your connection held at? Like, do you live in dorms where the connection is held by the school or is yours private? The shotgun blast may be due to where you shot him by the head; if you don't shoot enough towards the neck and chest area, most of the blast will miss. It happened to me a lot in the Beta and Halo 3 (whenever it was fair connection).
Yep, people are using all sorts of terribly cheap tactics right now. I can't wait for black ops so they can all gtfo my Halo.
This so much. It's my primary ability for Invasion as an Elite. I basically saved an entire game by using the Focus Rifle and AC while staying close enough to my core (not to reset it), but to draw enemies out of hiding. The best part was that the guy was so close to reaching the zone when I ran out of Focus Rifle that I ended up spamming the Plasma Launcher and meleeing him to pieces. One second later: "ELITES WIN!"
Can I see a screenshot of this reticle bloom? Everyone keeps bringing it up but I've never noticed it ingame.
It's just the projectile error that increases the more you shoot your gun. It's not as big of a problem with Automatic weapons as it is for Precision weapons, where the projectile error is random in many cases, although if you shoot calmly and not spastically then you'll make your mark. The problem, though, is that since the projectile error is more random with weapons like the DMR, it's deemed unfair for people because it goes down to chance in those cases. However, if you pump your rounds steadily then it's not a big issue, which is why it's definitely a good long-range weapon. However, at short range it's veyr controversial because people usually pump off rounds like crazy and the random projectile error increases exponentially, therefore it's difficult to tell the outcome msot of the time in this manner. That's why it upsets people so mcuh with precision weapons.
They introduced dice rolls into the precision weapon equation and people are understanbly upset. I respect that they wanted to allow people to fire faster than is proper, but they should have shrunk the critical hit zone as the rate of fire increases, rather than blooming everything out. That would sort of simulate bullet error without resorting to randomness.
I really like atom as a sniper's map. There's no real places to camp on the map, it keeps the players mobile.
Well atom is 10 000 times better than any of sevlag's Forge maps. As long as his maps stay out of MM I won't complain =)
They see you trollin', they hatin'...
http://www.bungie.net/images/reachst..._firefight.png
I almost thought I saw somebody with this. If you have a firefight perfectionist onyx you have some serious issues.
Also I have yet to play Atom.
I used to wonder about the RL on Ascension as well, until I realized that it's actually designed very well. What they did is put the only real counter to the tower camping, as far away from the tower as possible. In this way, even if someone does manage to get the rocket in the tower, they won't easily be able to acquire ammo for it, and other players can get the rocket launcher to blast them from their hiding spot.
As for the RL on Reflection, they need to either move it further away from the top floor, or make it a 2 shot with a faster respawn. Jetpack just ruins map flow in so many ways, I fucking hate jetpack.
Atom is still fucking terrible but then again better than lodex's shitty maps with hidey holes all over the damn place...
you making a map for osama bin laden to hide in or something?
EDIT:
today's challenges are easy..just about don with them
Perhaps the people you played against were headless chickens. When I played on the map, everyone always caps those 2 top towers. You always spawn near the bottom, theres only 2 ways up to the tower, and both are in fuel view on the people on tower. You gotta go to the middle of the map, in the open to get to the ramp that goes up. Or you have to go up the lift, which makes an INSANELY large amount of noise, all they have to do is get 1 body shot whilst your in the air like a sitting duck, and melee you.
I love Pinnicale, although on Team Swat the spawns are absolutely awful, on snipers they can be pretty bad, but theres multiple ways to key points of interest.
Hooray for DVD drives failing!
Also, EVA with a gold visor looks like a giant lemon.
I think Pinnacle is fun only when the Rockets are NOT in play (even if I'm using them) and when there is the AR/Pistol starts. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of chaos in trying to throw grenades and get headshots first. Defeats the point of having Camo or Jetpack half of the time.
i don't get why BTB slayer would be on countdown...why?
I don't get why BTB Headhunter is even around. I played that shit on Countdown last week or something.
countdown is pretty tiny. It's just got a lot of vertical room.
I'd rather play BTB on countdown than say Elongation which I seem to recall playing back in the Halo 2 XBL shutdown-countdown. It may not be girthy, but like m00kz said, it's got the vert. Also, it doesn't have some central/global choke point where everyone always goes to crowd around/camp, eg, the elevator in Reflection or the middle hill/team caves in Blood gulch. There are many, many ways to get to multiple places. If there's heavy firefight in one direction, there's easily a slight detour around it.
So, IMHO, Countdown provides some pretty awesome CQC action without too much bullshit stemming from the map (variant).
Enlongation was only fun if I had the sinper. Otherwise I pretty much hated it.
Then again, I'm like, the most anti-vehicle-using guy you'll ever meet..
I'm pretty sure...pretty damn sure, that today's challenges are rehashed from a previous day within the last 7 days. Expect this time it's now five double kills instead of four.
Goddammit. Change the Legendary challenge to SOMETHING ELSE! Idk bro, how about Exodus or something/anything? Maybe I'll just get one last checkpoint at the end of ONI and never, ever, play another campaign mission again (expect in co-op), kthx!
