Yeah.. I actually tried H2v today because I wanted to play some Halo 2 online. No native widescreen support, custom resolutions give you vert- and weird distortion. Mouse control barely works, even on 10 it feels horribly slow and jittery. And even with vsync I was somehow getting tearing. Fuck that game.

It's MS fault for the way H2V turned out. So without MS, we'd probably have a better Halo (2, sans "Vista").

Also, it would probably be easier for them to engineer the Halo 4 codebase for PC titles than to port Halo 3.

You're forgetting that Halo wouldn't have been what it was if MS hadn't bought Bungie from Mac. I don't even want to think about what would have happened if Mac still had control of Bungie....

Apple probably would have got into gaming and the Ipod/Iphone/Ishit probably would never have been thought off because Apple would be too busy buying developers everywhere to develop games for their platform.
Think Activision but on a Apple scale with Ubisoft style DRM.

These reasons are why I don't hate on MS too much, even if I massively disagree with a lot of their choices. I have an Xbox, so I can play Halo, and after several years of branching out to different games, it's alright to me if there is never a new HEK.

Actually.
Bungie was in financial trouble and they approached Apple first looking for someone to buy the company.
Apple initially declined the offer and microsoft caught wind of it.
If you want to point fingers, look no further than the massive recall Bungie had to do because several thousand discs had a glitch and downloadable patches weren't very common then.

Marathon was such an awesome series (is?) and that's why Apple was originally interested in them. I'm not sure why Apple didn't pursue buying Bungie, but I'm really glad MS did simply because it's led to my favorite gaming franchise to date.

Since way back when it was still an RTS. It's been mentioned a couple times before, including in a tweet by MartyTheElder, where he was 'amazed' by how many people still thought it was suppose to just be for the Mac (when they've stated otherwise before).

The only major part of the clan system I miss is that there was always someone online to play custom games with and it was a hyper extended friends list. I also loved how clans were always dogging each other.

I can't wait to see what Bungie does next. It's my dream to work there (has been since the Halo 3 Beta) and I've been a relatively honest fan of their games now that I've played most of them (still want to play Pathways, Operation Desert Storm, and ONI one day). I've always felt that Bungie has great environments that just need expansion in some of their games, so as someone who is trying to be an environment artist/level designer I want to try and help that one day if they still haven't accomplished perfecting the satisfaction of a level's environment. For example, as of Halo Reach they are better about creating more expansive environments, but the problem is that they lack substance in these environments and levels, like there is a lot of wasted space. I am also little questioning regarding the new game being an MMO (not a big fan of MMO games), but heck maybe it'll be another series I end up loving.

This game is going to probably end up being either really good, or really bad. I really like the H3 vibe of the MP gameplay, and I think it's time they mix things up. I'm sure the ideas they have are solid, but like Reach it's going to be all about the execution.

I love the armour shown there (which isn't part of the pre-order exclusive), but the camo doesn't interest me too much. I love Best Buy's pre-order bonus skin though!
