Sandbox in New York. I hope they actually make good use of the new urban environment.
Aw. No more Koreans.
Also more aliens-- the one thing I hoped wouldn't be in Crysis 2. :/
So basically they're taking the most powerful game engine out there, capable of rendering nature's beauty in gorgeous detail...and they've moved the game into New York City.
What. the. Fuck. :smith:
Makes it easier for consoles to run it, even though they've already taken a massive step back by dumbing down the engine.
Money wins.
ugh im so sick of new york, fuck them.
If you watched the CryEngine 3 presentation, the urban environment feels like a city however it looks different. The game takes near 2020 I believe, and in the video they showed thats most likely going to be what it looks like. It looked pretty damn awesome to me. It's futuristic looking as well, so it could be intresting. I also bet your still going to go to the island as well, becuase Prophets still there. And besides, why would you go away from basically the mark of the 1st game, which in this case, IS the island?
Lol. They better make this one actually fun enough to play. Crysis was just a glorified bench marking software.
Good idea, poor execution.
Gameplay involving the aliens, and the design of the aliens themselves, was very lackluster and frustrating-- the aliens tend to jump randomly, and Crysis tends not to be the most responsive and framerate-friendly game out there. The sections with the aliens were crap, too-- all linear and open areas-- and the AI for the aliens was boring to deal with. They don't scout or use cover, they just charge at you.
I wonder how destructible NYC will be in Crysis 2.

New, apparently ingame screenshots
They Should make it in a desert...
But instead of making so much details they should focus on making every bit of sand with it's own weight and size...
I'm so happy I'm Finnish and got to see those images first. :) Oh wait, they don't tell you anything new.
More screens and some the same

Also, looks like its going to support 3D

I hope I'm not the only one stoked for this game, and even more importantly, for this engine.
GDC 2010 Crysis 2/CryEngine3 Trailer:
Damn, looks amazing. To think that this game is running on a console.
The console version might have ridiculously low draw distance and frequent popups though, if the previous Sandbox tech demo was any indication. Also, what's up with Prophet appearing at the end?
Well, I guess it wasn't just a tech trailer for the game. Unless he was talking about having to create new technologies to create tomorrow's game.
Sexy. Do want to play this.

A new trailer
I liked the look of the old aliens; but this works too, I guess.
I want to play this so bad. It looks like they are trying to focus a lot more on story this time around.
ohh wellQuote:
You might like Halo. You might not. Crysis 2 lead writer and sci-fi novelist Richard Morgan says he doesn't like Halo at all. "I don't like the Halo series at all," says Morgan, best known for his dystopian novel Altered Carbon. "Okay Halo is not actually bad, it's just, you know, average."
Average? Do explain!
"The reason that its fiction doesn't work has nothing to do with the fact that you don't get to see Master Chief's face, it's because of lines like 'Okay... I'm gonna get up there and kill those guys'," says Morgan. "Halo is full of these bullshit archetypal characters and there's no real emotional effect."
When Neill Bloomkamp, the director of District 9, was attached to the Halo film, he mentioned that the plan was to have the film focus on those around Master Chief. That certainly does give a degree of gravitas to what Morgan is saying.
My problem with the first game's story is that I could not relate to the characters. They just seemed to be lacking something that made the player feel connected with them.
I feel that will all games I've ever played. To be honest, I've never felt that I could relate to the characters in pretty much anything. I just value the high production values that went into crysis, things like absolutely great voice acting, the amazing physics and visuals, as well as a decent plot to follow. I always see people saying that Crysis didn't have much of a story. I don't disagree, but it's got a better plot than a hell of a lot of other games out there. As much as I like BC2 as a game, I couldn't get into the singleplayer. I don't know if it was the random cutscenes, or the vague objectives because the only thing that drew me in were the liveliness of the characters. Other than that, it just felt going from point A to point B while looking for something. By the ed of the mission, you'd figure out what you're looking for is on completely different continent. Basically just a like a big wild goose chase.
it does look gorgeous. from the looks of things im assuming iron sight aiming is returning. iron sight is kind of a must for me. it feels like it pulls the game away from a spray and pray shooter to an almost skill based shooter. i say almost because cod4 ALMOST did it right. (fucking mp5 :maddowns:)
definitely looking forward to this
I hope they don't have that FOV for the PC version, it would be nauseating. The HUD looks terrible too, going to be hard to see the ammo counter in bright areas.
Plastic shaders go!
Also, env textures are looking REALLY flat. The blacks are a weird muddy green like all console games, and the foliage looks eh compared to the original.
I'm sure this is all just console optims though. PC should be good, but I'm hoping they did the texture viewing and work on the PC FIRST. I hope we don't get nasty low res textures everywhere because of console priority. Me being me, that would gross me the fuck out.
But, good choice on walking aliens. That's what sucked about the first. Everything was flying, and all you did was punch koreans in the face. Yawn.
Now you get to actually have fun in your open world! Assuming it's still sort of open?
Also, the powers need to be oomphed up. When I played Crysis 1, the first thing I expected when I threw a korean with Max strength was, for him, to fly through the air, and crash through all the trees and snap them all as he went through them, with a big bonecrunching thud at the end when you can't see him anymore, but you know it's messy.
Nope, throw them like, 12 feet and get shot to death while doing it. Superjump was fail, speed was nerfed, cloak was useless.
Seriously, show off your destructive physics, crytek. Let me throw some fuckers through some walls this time, ok?
Just noticed, no per object motion blur anymore? Just screen? Lollers.
Blacks look green? Maybe it's your monitor.
IDK. I just hope this game is actually GOOD. Crysis one was fucking revolutionary visually... but that was it. They tried something new gameplay wise, but failed. I hope they learned their lesson tis time round.
Looks meh. Why are they showing off the console version? It would make more sense to show off the one that looks better which is obviously going to be the PC version...
uhh... Don't see any shaders?
lol

Scans of new info on the game, including screens.
Wow, Nice info. :)

:)
e: Wow that gameplay video looks amazing, hope the jump animation changes though :S (2:35)
Arg my computer is deffinatly not going to run this
Those sprinting animations look so weak and boring >_>
The sprint animations dont really look right I agree, but hopefully that, and the jump animation will have changed for the final release. They both look very rough and rushed, very snap into animation snap out of animation sort of thing so they could just be a form of placeholder for the demo.
Assasination (00:20) will be awesome.
E: another video posted on the Crysis Facebook. http://www.gametrailers.com/episode/...ent=site-basic
It worth noting that the animations used for the alpha trailers of the original Crysis never made it to the final product, so these things are subject to be changed.

New Xbox 360 footage.
Looks great, time to start saving up for ram i think :S
D: Hope your wrong.
Well I think my ram is more in need of and upgrade (1gb ddr2 :( ), gahhh crytek needs to tell us system requirments :S
e: "Carl Jones of Cytek has stated during his speech at India Game Developer Summit 2010 that Crysis 2 will have lower system requirements than the original game but better graphics."
couple of sites say stuff like this, which would be great if its true.
Yo Guardian.
I have two 512mb sticks of DDR 1.
My comp is ancient.
If yours beats (is worse) than mine, i will give you a medal
Fair Call sir lol

Trailer of MP. Looks like a mix of COD and Halo.
Graphics look good, maps look big. But the gameplay looks slow and shoddy. Not really fast paced and exciting like a huge game should.
They were on consoles. No wonder they couldn't aim for shit.
I play this for the SP, didn't care for MP first time and don't think it's gonna change.
Crysis 1 is slow on PS unless you know how to circle jump. Then it becomes rrreeeaaalllyy fun, been playing it for the past 7 months. Im actually hoping that Crysis 2 has a similar style, just smaller maps.
And thats why we have Killzone-_- :)
Heli=1000P
Vtol=Cant buy
Rules: heli cant be used to kill ppl.
Gameplay doesn't look shoddy at all to me. Looks the way it's supposed to. I hate all new new FPS games that are "fast-paced." Those are just COD clones for fags. I want a slow paced MP FPS, but not slow like the Tom Clancy games.
I'm most interested in how they transition the story from the Pacific to New York.
^ I like the halo pace, not to fast not to slow.
1:11 wat
Is that PC footage? And what's up with all the shadow flickering, especially in that chopper scene?
Why are the guns so damn shiny. Especially the sniper rifle.
Anyone else get a multiplayer beta pass xbox sign up thingy?
I've got 3.
Do they just invite you to it or do you have to sign up for it?
I got one and I signed up even though I don't own an XBOX or LIVE Gold account.
There was a certain period of time that you had to sign up at mycrysis.com in order to be eligible. That must have been last year sometime because I don't remember being on that website for a very long time and I don't even remember why I signed up in the first place. I've heard that people who've been signed up from the start haven't gotten such invitations so I'm assuming it was a very selective process. That or it is completely random.
This isn't the beta this is a tech stress test.
quoted from crymod quote:
Well in context of builds of the game, I'm guessing that the beta would be the second stage build of a game that is pretty functional and can be released to the public with confidence. Now I understand this is purely to stress the servers, but it will be the first time the general public can get their hands on this game and see how it really plays.
Get on combat testing, they're getting some actual beta keys after the stress test. I'd be all over it if it weren't for a console system that requires a fee to play...
Anyone got a spare key?
I got three invites but no key :(
I haven't gotten shit yet, either. When do these stress tests start?
I saw this when I signed-up:
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...821/crysis.jpg
Still waiting for these so-called "instructions." I did not get an e-mail with the code.
Edit: So I read the FAQ that was posted by some Crytek mod. Apparently the invites sent out to people were not invitations to the test, they were invitations to sign-up for the chance to be a part of the testing process. Hmm, quite misleading. This shouldn't affect me since I signed up for the chance as soon as the e-mails were sent out. An hour or so later I received the second e-mail that actually signs you up. First come first served was what they said. If you haven't received an e-mail with a code yet, well it means you're not supposed to get a key. Well, I came at near the front of the pack and was served nothing? Defeats the purpose of their invite system.
Still, I'm not sure if all keys were sent out yet.
All the keys have been sent out, this isnt the full beta its a closed stress test, according to the dev's at crymod, only about 900 keys were sent out.
Who would want to play Crysis at anything less than 1920x1200 anyways? Defeats the entire purpose of the game :)
Best Crysis 2 trailer to date.
However, I have to admit that I'm underwhelmed. Usually when you hear "Crysis" you think near-photorealistic graphics because, let's face it, that's what most of us buy and play Crysis for. What I saw didn't look much more impressive than F.E.A.R. or anything else more modern out now.
The music sounds like a version of the same song they used for the 300 trailer. Not a bad thing- great song, just interesting to hear it here too.
I think the game looks great, the up in quality for animations (and the variety they have O_o) is really neat too. What I'm going to miss is the beautiful forests, but hopefully they get some wide-open areas and vistas in the city as well.
Why isn't this out yet?
It feels like such a large departure form the original Crysis. I like this Crysis 2 game, but I'd like it as another game. Not the direct sequel to Crysis.
Makes marketing sense to call it Crysis 2. Crysis the original was a well known game, it had a ton of hype, you talk to any gamer and they will have heard of it.
If you say Crysis 2, they'll know exactly what you mean and think of Crysis 1 on crack. If it was an unknown franchise with a new name, people might over look it.
oh my god that trailer makes this game look awesome. the car kick and the wall climbing are my favorite :iamafag:
