I don't really know much about moding and what not but in the custom map "Beach Battle" there is a silenced SMG(idk if its a custom wep or not)

even if its not a custom weapon then the weapon its self is flawed.....as seen by the red mark on the screen shot.(that went away when i switched to the regular smg)

Sounds like something they added after seeing that CMT added one.
No. CMT got it's silenced SMG idea from the tags hidden in h2 maps, sort of like the covenant engineers in h1. I guess nitro decided to put it into use.
The tags are all there, you can add it to your maps if you want. I suspect the red thing was supposed to be a laser sight or something.

Because laser sights are used a lot more on close combat weapons in real life because it increases your target acquiring speed a lot.
I know, I play airsoft, when I play in-doors I always attach my laser sight to my G36k, mainly since the built in sight isn't lit, so I can't use it in dark areas, only at out-door games. I've noticed that when I turn a corner and see an enemy turn at the end of the corridor, I can set my laser on his chest way before he has time to bring his weapon up, sight it, and then fire at me. I've hit people from my hip by using my laser sight...

So, how do the firing sounds measure up?
They actually sound silenced to me. The high pitched Pee-Ping Pee-Ping or w/e the hell it can be described as.

It's one of the new weapons we released with the tags. There are obvious reasons it was not included in Halo 2. We didn't change anything about it, hence the missing laser bitmap (that squiggly line is the placeholder for a missing bitmap).
Let's see who can be the first to fix it!
The SSMG was created for h2, CMT decided to do one based on the art of halo book.
And on it already Nitro, be nice if your game would detect my frickin map.

heh, the laser dot is my fault. It was something I was toying around with and it seemed interesting at the time. I do have a fixed version but I'm sure you guys will be able to do much cooler stuff with it.
