Syncing AI online in the H2V engine
I've known that AI couldn't sync online in the first Halo engine, and so far it doesn't seem to have any success in the Halo 2 engine. No AI online = no co-op online.
But then I started playing Halo 2 again and I noticed that a few things that couldn't sync in the 1st Halo (switches and the bottom-right score meters and the train in Terminal) managed to sync here. So...AI mb?
As the editing kit gradually becomes unlocked, I've been contemplating. Would there really be a way to get AI to sync online in Halo 2? If so, that would unlock the possibility of cooperative maps, though a safer start would be to have maps with bots first.
I'm not a programmer, so I don't know anything about the coding in either version of the Blam engine, but I do know that the second-generation Blam engine is more advanced, so I'm just wondering.
Re: Syncing AI online in the H2V engine
Assuming major things didn't change in Halo 2 Xbox, syncing AI could be possible in H2V because there have been some maps with AI in it. And I think there was an Outskirts multiplayer.
Re: Syncing AI online in the H2V engine
Actually, you can play the entire Halo 2 Xbox campaign online over system link with any tunneling program. They've managed to actually ENTIRE campaign maps, scripts and all. (BTW these are the actual maps themselves, not converted BSPs) Links:

Re: Syncing AI online in the H2V engine
Oh the entire campaign now?
That's cool...now WHAT ABOUT H2V?! =/
Re: Syncing AI online in the H2V engine
Er... I'm not sure, you'd think that if it worked for the Xbox version, it'd work for the PC version.
Edit: The guy who discovered how to do this, just swapped a few reflexives, do you think that would be possible for H2V?

Go back to Halomaps (or wherever you came from; I don't even want to know tbqh) and learn what "syncing" in real terms means. ;)
Re: Syncing AI online in the H2V engine
Wasn't that big rotating thing on Zanzibar for CE synced in some crazy laggy way?

We smashed bipeds. :V
Also, AI syncs on Xbox's Halo 1 via network.

Someone got told. Kibito is a pretty well known xbox modder, you should know who you talk to before you decide to bash them.

thanks to how the machines started off with the same conditions and inputs, but I've never seen sufficent research into how far the sync'ing goes to prove that it's "flawless" like halo 3

I don't care how much fame someone has. I don't care if I talk to you or someone new to this forum with just 1 post and negative reputation.

Go more in depth? It doesn't sync on H1PC...definition for syncing is sending the specific memory blocks to the client and back. "Smashing Bipeds" is hardly what you call syncing. I didn't know about network syncing on H1X and I guess sorry for that, but next time please be more precise. I hate those short answers similar to Veegie's ones where you pretend to know something others don't.

Oh you did? Sorry to virtually disappoint you.

He did say the first halo engine, that doesn't really mean PC. REgardless, it is a bit vauge, but you shouldn't mouth off to a "newbie", just because they are "new"

No you're not. You've been being a virtual annoying troll lately though.
Re: Syncing AI online in the H2V engine
Well, in a way, Halo PC maps did sort of manage to "sync" AI online. But the AI's movements are completely unable to keep up with the server action, as are MANY, MANY features. For example, look at the gate on Zanzibar. Often, players experience the effect of being able to walk through the solid gate, because the gate has opened but hasn't synced with the server. Same thing goes for the windmill - at times it can be seen to be completely stationary.
On the other hand, these cool features are able to keep up with server action in H2V.
