School, Mostly a waste of time? Give your opinion!

School is a pretty big waste of time, considering here in America, we get taught how to take a test.

I'm fairly confident that if I had to take a test without knowing anything (unless it's a foreign language), I could do fairly well. We learn how to use problem solving skills by taking multiple choice tests.

School isn't a TOTAL waste of time, but our education system needs a serious refinement. Doing "real world" stuff would help us more than taking a standardized test. I'm not sure who the idiot was that thought taking a test would prove if we learned the material or not, but he obviously didn't go to school!

Sure it's a waste of time, however, society pretty much made it a necessity. In order to get a job, in most cases you need to go through school. In my opinion, it's better to have hands on experience with an interest of your choice than to sit in a room and learn about something that I have no use for, or will forget the second after i take a test on it.

I think school is necessary, but at the same time just a pain in the ass. No more regulatory rules on facial piercings and hair and it would be a better thing to go to.

Are you complaining that you are hanging out with friends? I enjoyed school very much. A lot of the time we were hanging out with friends, during freetime in class, or in three hour Study Halls. I never got sick of it. If I wasn't there, I'd be home alone on the computer. That's not better. Even in college now we have three hour breaks between classes and we just hang out in the cafeteria chatting. Of course that free time that we had in class is gone, which is I kind of miss, but I still enjoy it.

And you say that we won't use what we learned in High School? That's not true. In fact, today my calculus teacher was telling us that we better think back to how to solve quadratic equations (back in High School) to figure out how to solve these problems we are doing currently in class. It's never really gone.

I'd treaure the time you have now. Soon, once you graduate, you might want to be back in High School. Like I'm feeling now...

Hi, we have much to discuss. I've been homeschooled all my life, and in affect, I hate my life. My only friends are Christian, and have overprotective parents. They can't even come to my house because they will (god forbid) play "violent" video games. Luckily (can you call it lucky?) my mom isn't overprotective, and I can do things without a parent. But yah, i still can't meet people, as I don't have a car/live in a neighborhood. I'm leaving home in a year to go off to college, but what then? I'm fucked up and antisocial.

Anyway, how old are you? Heres some advice that was to late for me to use. Just stop working. Let your parents bitch and moan, ruin your life, whatever, but just don't do any school work. Unless they are assholes and don't care about you, they should cave and let you go to public school.

That happens to me to. I used to go to a school where a majority of the students would have no hopes of at least getting past the 10th grade. The teachers were horrible and students didnt care about the class and just acted like duechebags.

Meh, school is fine. Although you have to go through a few uninteresting subjects, it all pays off in the end. I'm probably going to specialize earlier, so I can get to what I'm interested in. I just wish that people my age were generally more mature...

I also despise pretentious teachers. :|
