Seems pretty clear to me. Frankly, unless you know exactly what the purpose is it's not a good idea to give stylistic criticism and then be angry when it's brushed away like that. It's not a matter of growing balls, it's a matter of being put off by having to explain every little detail to people to avoid them talking about stuff that isn't "crit" at all. Style is incredibly subjective past a certain point, and unless you're the one who came up with the vision you're in no place to call out people for not having "balls" for disagreeing with your comments. That goes triple when he did explain that the style was meant to be beat up - it's not up to you where "weathered and rusty" becomes too much, because it's not your vision.

Yes, Dano might have been more agressive than necessary, but that's what happens when you always have to explain what the style is because people focus on it rather than the actual content.
