it wouldn't cause anymore or anyless lag if it stayed detailed or not.maybe they don't like them, they kinda look ridiculous to me and the extra detail would just create lag

There is an indentation on the grips of the Covenant weapons that is squeezed inwards by the lesser caste's middle finger and the Elite's two central fingers.
As far as Human weapons, some are pressure triggers, others have normal triggers. I think it was just Bungie being too lazy to model an "insignificant" detail such as a trigger.
Why am I not surprised?

Yes a lawsuit suing CMT for using Bungie's IP in a mod of the single player campaign for Halo.
MAKES PERFECT SENSE!
But it will take away sales from Halo 2 Vista, Windows Vista, and possibly Halo 3...
