If you're going to use Spraycan to do shading in Paint, this is one way you could do it. (even if it's amateur quality)
As you move farther from the light source make sure there is a steady decrease in concentration of dots and a steady darkening of the hues.
Also makes sure the dots do not encroach onto surfaces where they are not needed. Use the Pencil tool to do touchups where needed.
Besides, there's no excuse to be blaming MSPaint when this was the biggest news on the internet only a month ago.
