A white background and a whole lot of layers, varying shades of grey and my brush tool/line tool/whatever.

Oh and Rob, forgot about the cracks down there :P just done them. I'm making the coloured version now. Also thanks mass, didn't know that

I mean bump maps as in normal maps or displacement maps.
