I just noticed something that kills the illusion. I can tell that the camera is actually moving somewhat slowly, and the pods are actually pulling back to give the illusion of the camera moving fast.
When they pull back, they go through the particles they created by releasing the parachutes.

I've often thought about this method, but I don't script and never made a cinematic, wanted to but haven't yet lol...
Seriously though, I'm tempted to compare that to the halo 2 one, because it looks almost exactly the same as the odst drop sequence. I declare this cinematicEPIC WIN. Or the best one I've seen to date thats custom made I think.

don't know if anyone remembers, but it was a lifepod crashing into the ground, losing it's airbrakes and rolling to a halt over a few elites.
i even released the tags for it.
Come to think of it - I do remember a cinematic that had a life-pod crashing in front of a base that looked like the sidewinder ones. Don't remember it being released, though ;o
