Does Anyone Else Notice That TF2 Takes a While to... "Warm Up"?

I've noticed that, in TF2, as soon as the menu pops up and I join a game, at first, I have INCREDIBLE lag. It even happens if I host one, where there should be no lag, but yet, I teleport around my own server.
After about 30 minutes of continuous playing with lag, it slowly wears off to where I'm latency-free, and it happens every time I boot up TF2, so it's not a server issue, its something in the game.

Anyone else notice this? Is it just the game pre-loading all the maps and such while I play? Or is it just me? And, if it is just me, is there a fix? It bugs the hell out of me and screws up my stats for my classes.

game takes ages for me to load.

<_<, i dont really have lag tho. but sometimes when i get an update or something while i'm playing, shit gets weird.
like looking at a sniper on my team swimming while in our base. being shot by a soldier on my team and dieing.
it's like :O?

It's not so much loading at the start, I can see the title screen fairly quickly, it's just playing the game itself where I notice it.

as dr said, its a ram problem, upgrade, and you will notice a world of difference.
