Prob 1:
Halo seems to close when you add an attribute like "-window" to the shortcut.
Prob 2:
No servers are showing up when I click Search...
Using "-windowed" doesn't cause a problem. You may not have used it right.
The no server issue is addressed in the first post, and on previous pages.

I'm still looking into that init.txt issue. I have no idea why it's not working (crashes for me too) :-/
Ok, with regard to init.txt:
It seems ANY init.txt WILL crash Halo CE on startup, right before it reaches the main menu.
To clear up the reason I didn't have any problems when I tested, it was because I had a malformed init.txt which put everything as one long line with no spaces. No idea what caused that to happen, but now it's clear what could be the reason for many crashes.
To be specific, it is sv_name which crashes it. When the name is specified, the game will not make it past the loading screen.
There are no benefits from using OS features in regular 1.08 games. Regular games don't have MTV enabled (thus you can't use it) and they don't have the ability to change gravity. This is why I didn't allow OS to see regular v1.08 games.
Command line arguments like "-port" cannot be used in the init file. Isn't there a separate "init" file used for the dedi server anyway? Most of those commands make no sense in a "client" startup.
The init is the same for the client and server. Yeah, I know it makes no sense for CE to load it, but it does anyway. Maybe have OS prevent CE from loading it?
For the version number, maybe there should be a way for you to either see both 1.08 and "1.09" servers, but you can type something to filter only "1.09". I know someone figured out how to get a 1.08 server to display for all versions of clients, but can you do something similar for the client?
If not, I think it would be best to leave the version number at 1.08. Changing it would make the population smaller.
