Thread: Stating the obvious

    Re: Stating the obvious

I found the Rooky in ODST more fascinating than the Chief. Also I have to agree with Silicon. You don't think much of Gordon, other than you know a touch of his back story. The rest is putting you in the drivers seat and letting you interact with the characters. But as for myself, I pretty much think that Gordon is awesome. Don't know for sure why though.

    Seriously?

The chief is really straightforward and has a beyond stereotypical hero personality.
Gordon by himself is not interesting. What makes him interesting is how you interact with the world through him. He doesn't NEED to talk, because he is only how you use him to interact with the characters.

Yeah... that's true. At least Gordon's character is creative in that right though. The chief just kinda feels like a copy paste hero to me I guess... idk.

Honestly, Chief does not fascinate me in the slightest. Since Halo 1 I kept getting the feeling "Man who's this random guy I'm playing as"

Ooooh he's a silent bad ass who has no personality and just kills a lot of shit hes soo cooool

That only worked in GTA3 man, Claude Speed will fucking cut you

Doomguy had more personality than rook. Atleast he got excited when you picked up a new gun.

Yeah but the chief also never gets the chick. [not that anyone would want a annoying as hell dwarf stuck in his head who would probably know hes about to cheat before he would]
The chief is more tool of destruction than hero, he doe's what he doe's because he is ordered to, in halo 1 theres a point where he has no orders and needed cortana to tell him what to do.

So where are you going with that? That doesn't really justify the fact the Chief is a crappy character...
