check your shadowing on the apple, the placement and tones are off slightly. Though its hard to tell only looking at the piece and not the still life

    thanks for pointing that out.
I had a very hard time figuring out color in the shadowed parts of forms.

This looks awesome. With your permission, I would like to use it in the future. Not sure if it could be put to use now, but if the time comes up I'll message you.

I don't want to lecture you as it makes me feel like a hypocrite since I kind of suck, but pretty much shadows are a darker form of the same color (obviously) mixed with the dominant color source in the environment. So lets say this apple is outside, the shadow would be a mix of the red hue plus a tad bit of blue. Also depending on the surface it is sitting on, the sky emits a light, so the apple would have some light blue reflections, but note that the light blue can not be any lighter then the main light source. at the top of the shadow, seeing as this is rounded, the light osurce from the sky is hitting one side while the sun is hitting the other, so the darkest part is technically is the midpoint between these two light sources, basically right when the shadow begins. It is not very noticeable unless shown in a white light area on a oclorless ball, but it is there none the less. The very bottom of the apple should be basically more dark blue then red contrary to the upper portions, as no actual light source is getting there to reflect the red to you, but the blue sky permeates the whole atmosphere so you still get that lbueish tinge. (note there still is SOME dark red, just a lot less then the other areas) hope this helps, it kind of sounds ocnfusing without images, and you probably know all this, but still worth a shot to help a fellow artist.

edit- from my observations this is inside, generally yellow indoor lights give off purple shadows.

I've never seen my yellowish indoor lights give off even a dark/pale shade of purple shadow, it's always been actually slightly green. And I know I'm not colour-blind.

I did it in a rush and used a dynamic field, but in sense, this is how shadows work. Also note that the darkest shadow is only as dark as your darkest value, so adjust your field as needed.
