I joined the server during the night cycle. A creeper chased me and I fell into a hole. There is no way out.

Ok, so the economy system is set up now. I'll explain how it works and how to use it.

You start out with no money. Currency is derived from gold ingots. You convert your gold ingots into currency at Admin Shops, which are just signs that say "Admin Shop" on them (there's currently only one, in my house. There will be more later). The conversion rate is 1 gold ingot = 20 dollars. Left-click on the sign to make the conversion.

    Commands:

    /money -- Shows your balance.
/money pay [name] [amount] -- Send money to another player.

For those of you who know about the VirtualShop we had set up...well forget about it, because it was throwing tons of errors, and it's being removed. Everyone who has stuff listed on it needs to cancel them.

Selling will now be done by ChestShops.

Here's the info on how to use it:

    How to create a ChestShop?
    - Place a chest, if you haven't already.
    - Place a sign 1 block near the chest (for example, above the chest)
    - On the sign, write:

(Item name can actually be item ID or alias)
First line will be filled in by the plugin automatically.
Price is a combination of buy and sell price.
You have to have B near buy price (people buy from you), and S near sell price (people sell to you).
If you have both B and S, separate them with a colon - :
    For example:

means that AcrobotPL wants to sell 64 diamonds for 10 currency, and buy them back from you for 5 currency.
Also, if you put "free" instead of price, it is free to buy or sell

    - Now, when you finish editing the sign, if LWC is turned on in config, shop will be automatically created.

    USING SHOPS
You could buy and sell by right and left clicking the sign for a long time.
Now it's the only way to use the shops.
    It's SIMPLE!
Just LEFT-CLICK to SELL to shop, and
    RIGHT-CLICK to BUY from shop.
(This can be changed in the config file)

    DESTROYING SHOPS
If you want to delete your old shop, simply SNEAK and destroy the sign.
    It's that easy =)

    STOCKING THE SHOPS
You can either open the chest and stock it up, or click on your own sign - it will open chest's inventory (that way you can have chests not openable by other people for sure )

Well currently you can get money if people buy stuff from your shops, but there's no direct way to turn coal into cash.

In the future we do plan to allow iron to be turned into cash as well, but we don't know the ratio of gold to iron yet. From what I've seen it seems like there's 20 iron for every 1 gold.

Thanks for building a house over the hole I fell in Jcap. Luckily, there was one wall of stone I could punch through to get out.

There would be too much inflation. With just gold, the money supply grows steadily and slowly.

As jcap said, you don't absolutely HAVE to mine gold to get currency; you could just sell stuff to people who do have currency.

    Re: Modacity Minecraft Server

well not if you scale the value of the item. like say, like jcap said, theres 20 iron for every 1 gold. 1 gold = 20 dollars, 1 iron = 1 dollar. coal could be like 5 cents or something.

i mean, i see the issue with something as plentiful as coal, but diamond and iron, and maybe other rare shit like apples or something could be traded for money.

when you trade those gold ingots, where does the gold ingot go? is it just gone?

Iron is not very rare at all anymore. And even if we found the exact ratios, it would still inflate the currency faster. It works completely fine the way it is now...there's no need to add a multitude of different things which are directly linked to the currency at a static amount. Let the market determine their prices.

Yes, the gold ingot is gone when you convert it. I've told jcap to make it so you can convert $20 back into one gold ingot as well, but he hasn't as of yet.
