My hosting provider did. I assume that my server continued to function because they are one of the few ranked server providers that EA/DICE has authorized.

That service only lasts two more days, then it switches over to a real BF3 server once they come up on the 25th. They are an awesome host, and the staff sympathized with me when I told them I just wanted to play on a non-shit server.

I would assume so. I would also assume there's a cooldown period between deployments, like the mortar strike in BC2.

you know if I were DICE I'd just accidentally leak the caspian server files, call it a travesty, warn anybody that you could get hacked!!! and then just sit back and collect oodles of data while generating tons of positive feedback

Yeah, I don't know what such a late beta hopes to accomplish. BF 1942 and BF2 both released single-map conquest demos over a month before those games shipped and they were crack. This whole situation seems like more and more of a fustercluck every time I think about it. They not only dropped the ball, they are kicking it down the field as they comically try to scoop it up.

Makes a good point about people bitching relentless about something DICE has provided for free for both their benefit and ours. And why would you complain if you get banned for using unauthorized server files? You didn't really buy the game (unless you're one of those people who puts all $60 down at pre-order) yet so they technically have every right to do what ever the hell they want. These guys are working their ass off to get this game out, give them a break and some respect.

Also M40 with iron sights is hilariously fun. Especially when you run in and capture the objective with it

Part of the issue is that people were using quickmatch which was placing them in unauthorized servers without their knowledge. It wasn't until they looked through their server history tab that they realized that they were a part of the crowd that DICE was warning. Still, nobody has been banned, so whatever.
